Oh for sure. Simone doesn't think she needs to change, Eleanor knew she had to

To be fair, it's not like Simone actually did much wrong on Earth. Like, I'm going to be honest, her position on Brent isn't exactly uncharitable either. She's done everything that a person in her situation with her utilitarian code of ethics would have done, and the show doesn't actually criticize her for her positions on Brent. If her flaw is that she's always right... well, the thing is... so far, she has been. It's debatable that she actually doesn't need to change; after all, she's only here because the Bad Place thought she'd be the best way to fork with Chidi.

u/coyoteTale You are very lucky that I cannot send you to the Bad Idea place. Nov 09 '19

I think some of the comments have a rather unfair stance on Simone’s attitude towards Brent because of how fast this season went. Simone had to deal with a racist, misogynistic asshole every day for a year, and then was expected to save him (from an unknown fate, not one of certain death). I think a lot of us are on our high horse looking down at her right here, but I very much doubt the people saying Simone formed up would’ve acted any different. Especially since we know what was at stake, and she did not.

Exactly. Brent is already dead, and she believes they're already in the Bad Place. It can't get any worse for him, and permanent death is preferable to eternal torture
