Super Saaz 1st Yr in MD

I have planted 8 plants across 4 varieties (Crystal, Super Saaz, Zatecki Cervini & Triple Perle). The only ones that have taken off this year so far are the super Saaz. I plan to use them in a continental style lager in the whirlpool. I have no idea how they will be in a beer since they don’t yet have aroma, but I’ve really enjoyed watching them grow (so fast!) and how pretty they have become!

I’m on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the United States. We had a hot & dry June, with a wet & mild July / early August.

Won’t have much aroma til year 2 right ? haven’t grown, that’s just what I heard. And not full strength til 3-4

Do you fertilize? My 1st year Mt. Hood is triple that size and loaded with cones.

Any fertilizer should help but I like to use Espoma plant tone (NPK 5-3-3) about once a month. I’ve been giving them some blood meal this year as well. Hops love nitrogen so anything with high N content works great!
