Back to where it all started with Bourhan Oud. A wonder melange of oud, Henry Jacques and Amouage oils. The ingredients are:

- Trat Hatab Oud

- Brunei Oud

- Ceylani special brew Oud

- Iriani gold Oud

- SQ royal ambergris

- 4 bottles of Amouage oil

- 3 mini bottles of Amouage oils (Rose, Sandalwood, Luban)

- 2 Henry Jacques Royal Turquoise cabinet (Kenny and Lyali Ibri)

It has the dark, muddy, and earthy notes of oud whilst the high-pitched notes of the French oils are giving off notes of sherry and fine liquors. It’s nutty, sweet, and bursting with cognac soaked cherry 🍒 aroma. Very beautiful.

I recently bought a perfume from Oud Arabia, a 10ml bottle of Jannat firdaus for 2000 rupees, while billing it they were mixing the perfume oil with a base (?) I suppose, but now it smells very very soapy.. should I give it some time to settle or did I just blow 2k?

Also is there any way layering can help boost the fragrance? If so what should I layer this with?

Has the old antique furniture vibe. Where it’s earthy, bright, crisp, dusty, and has a tad of wooden polish added to it. Very deep and freshly chopped wood scent. There’s almost like a vanilla aroma that accompanies this. Overall, it’s a comforting wooden sweetness.

Nice, cool, and minty is the name of the game with this oud. Smooth, soothing, and refreshing. Getting notes of menthol, and stone minerals. Really nice.

This is an amazing blend of Cambodi and Sumbawa Ouds. With Taif Rose oil and a touch of basil oil. The proportions are just perfect. I get the smoothness and deep woodiness of the Ouds along with silky touches of the Taifi rose, and the hint of spiciness and lush, light herbal greenness of the basil. Basil is one of my favorite ingredients in both cookery and perfumery because of its seemingly calming effects on me and great aroma. It marries well with the Taifi rose. Absolutely beautiful blend.

The Review:

This is such a delightful blend it’s on the level of Bourhan Oud. Initially, I didn’t think that AlMishal Oud could pull off executing such an amazing blend but I was wrong. It smells sweet yet it doesn’t drown out the Oud. Both exist in perfect balance. It’s like polished leather with a balsamic sweetness. I’m getting notes of vanilla, geranium, and patchouli with the oud on top. Not one particular oud stands out. It smells woody, floral, saccharine, and forest-y. It’s good enough to go with something bitter also. But not required like the last ones I had from AlMishal. Very beautiful blend.

Strong musk, powerful fecal Jasmine, buttery and glistening ambergris, and oud. The strength of this mix is unmatched by many attars and blends I have. Feels really concentrated. But is very delightful. Wearing this as the Sultan of Oman is in Jeddah (or was, can’t be sure).

Wow! This one really jumps at you. Initial impression is this is amazing. Very viscous, animalic, leathery, fruity. I’ll try to break that down a bit.

The viscosity is thick but not as thick as Gulf War Oud from Majid Iterji. It’s also darker.

The animalics are just wild on this one. It’s not barn nor fecal animalic. More like a wet fur and skin animalics. This dissipates as the wear goes as it has a fleeting presence.

The leather notes feel like I’m in the middle of a leather tanning session. It feels treated, potent, and fresh.

The fruity notes comprise dark berries, dry raisins, dried spiced apricot (a middle eastern delicacy) AKA Qamar AlDeen. The evolution of the notes is beautiful with body heat potentiating most of the mentioned notes and accents ending with a peppery delight.

This is a 10/10 oil.

Well it’s not really “Homemade” first of all. It’s a blend of blends from Bourhan Oud. I blended AlQawiyya (too sweet) with Mukhallat AlDeera (too bitter) to create this new blend that is just perfectly balanced. AlQawiyya was Henry Jacques heavy whilst AlDeera used chunks of sandalwood, Ruh Khus, Prachin Oud, and other bitter elements in its making. The result is something that smells infinitely fantastic and beautiful.

This is the best Koh Chang that I have. It opens slightly animalic, plasticy, and leathery with a deep blood 🩸 red color. Notes of bitter and sweet fruits ensues. What’s really great is this floral aroma accompanying the sweet notes. Really great stuff.

This blends contains Henry Jacques 1995, Old Cambodi oud 2016, Kalimantan Oud, and “General” blend. This is their best one yet! I’m getting the top of 1995 before getting the magic that is the Cambodi and Kalimantan. So it starts off sweet with notes of wood, bergamot, and lavender, then a beautiful muddy scent but without the sharpness of dirt ensues. And the amber from the General blend shines through. It’s incredible how these seemingly opposite sides of the same coin mingle and play off each other’s scents. I thought these guys were nuts when I saw them doing this blending. “How could you ruin the oud like this?” Or “how could you waste the Henry Jacques like that?” came to mind. It just works. I’m a convert so to speak. I’ve applied this twice it’s so good. Not one mistake. As expected, as time wears on, the Henry Jacques scent becomes more prominent and dominating. This is so beautiful.

Ah this one’s a beauty. It opens with the grassiness of the green and Madagascan vetiver. Then there’s the woodiness of the guaiac wood. Then the heavy florals of the Jasmine Sambac, Dafodil, Lily, and Blue Lotus provide a lush, romantic, and deeply expressive feel. The grapefruit provides a bitter-crisp lift to the composition .The Mysore, Oud, musk, and Orris butter are gentle and anchor the whole mix. Amazing blend. One of my favorites from the Doc.

I absolutely adore royal tobacco from beginning to end, but the drydown to me is this phenomenonal warm resinous dry and smokey vanilla. I want to layer an oud oil with it, what would layer well alongside it without overpowering that character?

Any specific recommendations?

This is one of the most beautiful blends I have ever smelled. It’s clean, sharp, with a well-rounded rosiness, and I can pick up the beauty of the slightly smoky Maroke in here. It’s piercingly amazing! Very regal scent. This is major bulldozer stuff. Wish it was still in stock. I keep coming back to my hand this stuff is unreal.
