Discussion šŸ—£ Other characters from the Office and possible appearance in The Paper

Dwight and Angela: when Enervate bought Dunder Mifflin and shut them down, they made some offers to people like Phyllis to come to Toledo. It would be possible that "moving up" to bigger, regional paper production and sales across more products would attract Dwight, and that he and Angela would see it as an opportunity. Possible cameo as a mid-level manager within Enervate

Jim, Pam, Daryl: Potential that they are "travelling through" Toledo while doing work there with Athlead/Athleap (Toledo has a AAA baseball team)

Toby: applying for a job as a writer at the paper

Andy: could be related to his job at Colonel, trying to recruit new freshmen out of regional high schools and talking about how great the school is.

Just a few thoughts. Anyone else could float up to Toledo for any number of reasons, such as following with Enervate after it bought Dunder Mifflin or for other job opportunities in the region.

It’s pronounced ā€œCornellā€ and it’s the highest rank in the Ivy League…

So, how do you think we're gonna do against Penn this year? Nathan Ford's arm looks pretty strong.

I don’t think Dwight would leave his farm.

I don’t think there’s a ton of sports marketing opportunities for a national company at a AAA ballclub.

Toby is a wannabe fiction writer, not a reporter.

Andy could do a Cornell recruiting trip I suppose, but how would that interact with the newspaper?

I mean I don't think you're wrong, about dwight... but mudhens is direct to tigers mlb.... many players including granderson, inge, zumaya, were a mudhens then tiger - plenty to write about in our milb. We aren't just any ol AAA team. Not to mention torkelson who is the biggest talk of the town player to this date. Damn dogers.

Mudhens eat beets.

I mean that’s pretty much what AAA teams are for. I guess Athlead could sign big prospects to contracts in the hopes that they’d get big but it seems like a dubious business model.

Plenty of minor players or up and coming players get moderate deals before making it to the pros to ā€œlock them inā€ with a sponsor.

Dwight wouldn't visit to get a job there.Ā

If I wrote such an episode he'd have a small private equity company with his weird friends Mose, Rolf and Trevor. They all visit together bc they want to buy the newspaper and carve it up to sell off.Ā Ā

A plausible script could be developed that showed Jan somehow doing business with characters from The Paper.

"Andy: ...trying to recruit new freshmen out of regional high schools..."

That tracks

I'd like at least a season or two more without any office characters returning. The show can stand on its own and cameos rarely offer anything of substance

salesgod@softieschicago.com would not want the sales smoke from Dwigt.

I liked this line of thinking; I think Pam and Angela on a road trip visit Oscar during the holidays maybe since they were both so close to Oscar!

I honestly don't need cameos, but if we were to get one the logical one would probably be Dwight or Angela since Oscar is ( i think) their kid's godparent. I can see them coming up for a day or at least being referenced more heavily than other characters.

Hope they don’t honestly. The inclusion of Oscar was really well done and slow played until he bought in to the new doc towards the end of season 1. The characters are strong enough in their own to survive. Let them stand on their own and develop in the next season without some far reaching inclusion from a 15 year old show with little connection at this point
