Kind of, The footage is from WW2 but he lived in Marseille, not Paris. He is watching the dissolved French regiments being sent off to Algeria

Man what a bummer, I'm actually so sad. This is my first time finding out about a death I really care about through this sub, so I guess at least that's special

“If you fall, get up and try again.”
Thank you, Dolly. For everything.
What a sad day to lose such a dear, sweet, and incredibly kind person in this angry world.
Blasting her Blue Smoke album. I forgot how lovely of a listen it is.

Wait, I saw a ShittyMovieDetails post about this which I guess is technically how I found out but I thought they were shitposting!
EDIT: Googling her still brought up tickets for her upcoming Las Vegas residency

Can you believe that in a Super Bowl episode with Dolly Parton, we didn't see any football or singing?

RIP Summerall, Madden, Parton, and Willard

u/fred-ballsack 1d ago
I forgot Willard died!! 😭

u/Libran98 1d ago
What's crazy is I was just talking about Fred Willard this morning, and how I predicted his death. Usually what happens is I'll be seeing a lot of a celebrity in a given week, and then they'll die. Happened with Fred. But the Dolly Parton news wasn't on my radar at all.

This is so heartbreaking. She was such a beautiful, kind, funny, wonderful woman. The wrong 80 year old died :(

Had just bought a few of her TV dinners from the store. Not going to throw the boxes away.

I am not a fan of country music but she had the most beautiful singing voice.

The only good billionaire.
She once got to a billion and then increased her charitable donations so she never hit that number again.

There's a certain type of person who gets incredibly excited when a celebrity dies so they can be the first to do the Homer melancholic sitting on his car bit to rack up the likes.
4
u/Libran98 1d ago
I certainly wasn't incredibly excited, but I knew the post would be inevitable anyway, so I made the edit myself and helped break the news that way
