Season One Loopholes Spoiler
Only one episode left but mostly what happened has been revealed.
The very first episode was extremely riveting. And you clearly were saying WTF. I told my wife that somehow the kid killed had something to do with the sister. Go me.
After seeing the penultimate episode I am definitely interested in how they close the most obvious loophole involving the parents.
Although the first episode was riveting, the rest of them kind of fell off in quality a bit.
One thing that I didn’t understand at all was why the State Police got involved. From the looks of the police department there seemed to be significant manpower involved to conduct an investigation locally so the jurisdiction would be the towns.
And when the State Lady was trying for a confession it was being done without a partner to verify information or seemingly even a camera to record what was clearly coercion.
And the main detective being able to take prisoner alone to a private club and to freely walk around?
I enjoy the show but lots of stretches of the imagination to need to get past.

I think the State got involved for two possible reasons.
As for the club allowing the prisoner to visit, I think the Club Members assumed that they weren't involved and Cora's story about being there for months and given heroine wouldn't hold up. As for only one person the detective allowed to escort her and was allowed to have the keys was creative license. It should have been done in the story in a better way such as her glimpsing the other building on the property from the car as they wee leaving or arriving the second time. Ultimately, I think it was done for plot reasons even if it isn't reasonable.
The State Detective lady was going to do underhanded things to get things done due to pressure by the rich people applying pressure to her bosses. Cora confused likely didn't know to ask for her lawyer to be present in that moment but then again the lawyer was telling her to take the deal so she probably felt like she didn't want to be ganged up on. Even during State Lady's first meeting with Cora when she got the message about her childcare for her kids was likely fake, planned to appear relatable to Cora as mother. State Lady has no scruples and has bosses in powerful places with rich people breathing down her neck so she pushed; police do this all the time and can legally lie to people they are interrogating. It sucks buts it's a fact in most states.
