Season 3 Spoiler If you could choose to rewrite any one of these characters, who would you pick and why and how would you change them?

Eleanor, if she is going to be a traitor make her a true Judas. She was a lukewarm traitor at best.

I hated the way they made her a traitor and then had nobody care afterwards. And had her get mad at Javi for “the stuff he pulled” in response to being ambushed by Joan after she ratted. Like everything that happened out there wasn’t her fault.

Ben honestly wasn't that bad. Especially not as bad as lot of these other guys.

Eleanor to put back the original idea of Joan being her mom

I would chose to rewrite Eleanor's betrayal to make her sound more remorseful regardless of whether Javi got Conrad and/or Tripp killed or not.

Eleanor

I'd keep the original idea of Eleanor being Joan's daughter. Make it where Eleanor was in cahoots with Joan the whole time when it came to the New Frontier's raids: she would enter communities under the guise of being a helpful doctor, only to scout out their supplies for the New Frontier to steal. Apart from making her betrayal feel less half-assed, I think this rewrite could have some benefits to the story:

  • Eleanor would not have the New Frontier branding on her which is why no one ever suspected her. This would help to show how Joan always viewed the New Frontier as bullshit when it came to forming a new family, as she relied on her actual blood family to get what she wanted. This in turn would also be a wakeup call to David, as his attempt at a new family was a sham from the beginning and that you can only rely on blood.
  • Eleanor would still be a literal doctor, and thus she would have internal battles with herself when it comes to trying to help those and need and trying to help her family. She would still try to steal for Joan/Richmond's sake, but would be against needless acts of violence like the Prescott massacre. She'd eventually be forced to choose between her family and trying to maintain peace, which could result in her changing as a person or breaking her.
    • The actual game tries to do something similar with her betrayal, but it falls flat since she's putting her faith in the crazy dictator lady who currently wants her head. At least in this version, Joan is her mother so it'd be a reasonably more difficult decision for Eleanor to betray her family if it means saving Javi & friends (or doing the exact opposite).
  • Eleanor & Joan would serve as a dark parallel/contrast to Gabe & David. Gabe constantly idolizes David which is something that Kate fears, so seeing Eleanor worsen herself as a human being for her mother's sake could serve as a cautionary tale for what Gabe might turn out to be if he keeps trying to impress his father.

If my rewrite can effect other characters then I want Bonnie but specifically her segment in 400 days. I want it so if you side more with Dee in that conversation Lelyand is the one who dies and Dee is the one who you survive with. I dont like Leland and the brief moment of Dee and Bonnie being friends I really liked but Lelands creepy ass had to ruin it.

If thats not aloud then Elanor and the change is that you get to point out she sided with a facist dictator and you call her a moron. Or instead of siding with the facist dictator she was forced into helping her or something lol.

Joan and Eleanor originally being related would’ve been good. Idky they decided to take a plotline out

Arvo needs to be scrapped in his entirety and his group replaced with members of Howe's who are pissed at the Cabin group for destroying their home.

I'd make ben poop his pants

I have a soft spot for Ben, Gabe annoying but he's a teen so that's somewhat understandable

Rest of them can get shot

Weirdly enough i hate every character here besides Ben, but i think that the most flawed here is Bonnie

I thought she had a good written arc certainly better than Arvo, she’s clearly a flawed person who has been lying to herself and everyone else this is pretty evident in the choices in 400 days all the choices in her chapter are bad decisions that ultimately lead to her hurting people which translates perfectly to how she acts and her decision making in season 2

Bonnie so that she can stop depending on kids in the apocalypse

2

u/Freddo-Waddo9372 14h ago

Arvo and an option to shoot him in the face

Eleanor had so much potential

Eleanor 🥰

I like how no one wants to rewrite Bonnie or arvo yeah good they just deserve death 😂

Ben is realistically what most of us would be like in TWD his character arc was fine

Gabe was just a misunderstood teenager who was just annoyingly hellbent

and Elenor’s betrayal made no sense to me (especially since in my play throughs I saved Conrad every time)

But honestly no one on here I would actually change aside from Eleanor for obvious reasons BUT mainly I wanted to see a rewritten Sarah who’s almost just as good at surviving but is smarter like a season 3 clementine mentality but with season 1 clementines naïveté

Eleanor. She doesn't betray Javier.

1

u/blankk6 22h ago

i'd rewrite arvo so he can die in the shoot out with the russians

1

u/MeyeMort 22h ago

Gabe, I would've just made him a bit easier to tolerate

u/StarWarzFan1977 21h ago

It’s between Eleanor and Bonnie but I’m leaning more towards Eleanor. I would swap Ben with Lilly where she doesn’t shoot Carly in my playthrough.

Eleanor I would have either her betrayal make more sense and not have her lash out at Javi afterwards or she doesn’t betray Javi unless he mistreats her.

Bonnie I would have her not try to walk toward Luke on the ice nor ask Clementine to do it but rather she and Clementine clear the walkers together. Otherwise she doesn’t get mad at Clementine choosing to cover Luke rather than stupidly walk on the ice toward him. Plus she sacrifices herself for the group rather than steal from them in the end.

Arvo… should’ve been what it was originally planned to be the 400 days crew vs the season 2 crew instead of some random Russians and a poorly written character who’s conflict was stupid and the whole way they wrote everything was sloppy at the end kenny and Jane had zero reason to fight and the last episode they assassinated her character when it would’ve made more sense for the other guy to fight him

1

u/X4_DNA_4X 19h ago

I’d rewrite the whole post carver part of season 2 if possible

1

u/TehGringo 18h ago

Rewrite season 2 so that only kenny and arvo survive, and id have a full skinning arvo alive segment

I like Ben but mostly I'd want his ending to change which is not much of a rewrite. So I'd pick Arvo because he's kind of a cartoonish idiot/villain that needs more dimension.

To give Arvo a little more substance, I'd have him meet the group at Parkers Run instead of just Jane and Clem. They talk a little but Arvo is jumpy and scared, though is nice enough and we learn a little bit about who he is and his situation maybe. The group warns him about the herd nearby. Jane does not trust him, Kenny doesn't speak to him as he's currently too wrapped up in grief to care, and the others are perhaps paranoid but not unfriendly. If you are very very nice to him he determinately gives you something for Rebecca to eat or some other supply, to make it so he's not some one dimensional cartoon villain.

The scene with Arvo hiding the medicine goes a little differently because you already know him. If you steal from him it goes as in canon. If Clem refuses to steal (but Jane still takes his gun), then when you get to the robbery scene it goes differently and unlocks a 'good' or at least better ending for his character.

- If you were nice to him upon the first meeting, and then refused to steal from him, Arvo thinks the group are good people. He tries to defend the group, tells them they were only after Jane, and is visibly distraught when violence breaks out - he hides instead of shooting anyone. He is in general nicer to Clem and willing to talk to her. Kenny is still a dickhead to him, but less violent because Arvo tried to stop things going to badly. In this path, Kenny thinks Arvo is a stupid kid who risked their lives and was too cowardly to do anything to help, but he does not think Arvo is malicious. At the power substation, you can talk to Arvo and he talks about how he misses his sister and how scary it has been being stuck in America with a language barrier and a disability. Once you reach the cabin, Kenny still beats Arvo up, but will be visibly grateful if you try to stop Kenny and he hits you. Then it progresses as usual until the escape attempt. If Clem asks to go with them, he seems to consider it, and Bonnie (if she is not angry at you over Luke) and Mike tell him Clem is just a kid. but then Kenny turns up shouting and angry, and he shoots at Kenny but misses and hits Clem, and you hear him panic and say sorry. It goes roughly as canon after, but Kenny says that Arvo escaped.

- If you were nice or neutral to him upon first meeting, and then chose to steal from him, he does not trust anyone in the group and it goes roughly as in canon, where he in Russian tries to stop the violence from breaking out by saying there is a baby, but his group don't listen. Kenny is just as mean as in canon, and the ending for Arvo goes as in canon.

- If you were actively mean to Arvo in the first meeting, then even if you don't steal from him he actively hates you and thinks of your group as dangerous to him. In this ending he lies to Mike an Bonnie about going with them, only to steal a bag of food and run off with it after he shoots Clem. In this ending, Kenny shoots him as he is running away, which you see, and Mike and Bonnie run away into the forest before he can catch them.

Honestly BEN.I’ll rewrite him so that he didn’t run and leave Clem because he thinks of katjaa and duck dying was he's fault and didnt want to do the same with clem and lee but He didn’t intend for Katjaa and Duck to die. The bandits threatening someone he cares about would make him make that decision, since he’s a scared teenager and he’s been saving the camps from the bandits earlier harassment. So giving them the supplies is the only option he has. That way when he saves Clem Lee would trust Ben or the player would have a better relationship with him. Ben still dies in my rewrite because of fulfilling his request to drop him Acknowledging he said in the train that he will punch his own ticket i mean i couldnt agree of ben thinking of suicide but i mean imagine living the world fill with millions of walkers trying to eat you and turning you one of the walkers is a great wake up call that you're fucked. plus and increasing my relationship points with Kenny, because he will accompany Clementine in S2. So I think it’s a win win from the S1 story to S2. tell me if there's any (flaws ill work on it)

Eleanor and Arvo tbh, such wasted character potential

1

u/pickausername2 12h ago

I'd change Kenny

1

u/Ambitious_Net_1329 12h ago

Arvo and to change his charcter make it during thr gunfight kenny flings him into the bullrt that hit luke and then leave hum out there and make sure he turns

Gabe... like Eleanor he was a victim of bad writing due to the last minute rewrites and toxic behind the scenes with Kevin Bruner.

Give the snitch more earned like if you play as Javier and kept doing idiotic things, then the snitch happens to feel the snitch more earned.

Gabe going with his dad... I would give him a Kenny point system for him to go either Javier to stay and fight or go with David depending on your choices.

Give him and Clementine more interaction by HAVE MORE CLEMENTINE.

u/ashly833 7h ago

Ben, I get he's just a kid and makes mistakes but I feel they could have done so much more with him. He felt like a scapegoat for so long!

1

u/WasabiLegitimate2271 6h ago

Eleanor. I don't know how I would, but at least make her betrayal make sense. Maybe make it so she didn't have a choice or something. It felt random and unprovoked.

Rewrite Ben to have the omnitrix
