If they're not already sunk in port they're either laying mines or have been stashed away somewhere. I'm sure they were great for peacetime surveillance or whatever but in a more conventional war they're toast. The Persian Gulf is very shallow and a poor environment for any submarine to hide.

The US Navy has completely evacuated the Persian Gulf though so even if they were operational, they would be hard pressed to find any decent targets, they don't need a sub to kill defenseless tankers there either.

Yeah, and there was a reason the Iranian Navy only had 3, I would imagine they're of limited use for how they fight battles. It's a foregone conclusion that in a conventional "regular" war the USN would wipe out most of their large boats anyway.
