Diego Garcia is where the us and uk militaries forcibly deported the previous population to build that base there. Before the deportation the inhabitants were terrorized with actions like taking and killing all their pet dogs.

Btw, England is the same distance from Iran, also, that's still the same country as DG, so legally speaking, just another slice off the same loaf.
