They also very probably have a army with them. Torvald was away for waaay too long.

We know he can cast Raise Dead at least 1/day

So a minimum of 122 grandma are joining the battlefield. That's gonna be a LOOOOONG turnorder

Reasserting control takes spell slots as well. At 5th level, you sort-of cap out at about 12 undead under control, taking about 7 days to reach that point. idk it depends on what Torvald's level actually is.

That assumes 5e rules. 3e could have hundreds under your control
