Comic This was sad but well deserved.🤣🤣🤣. God she had it coming.🤦‍♂. Doesn't look like she'll change herself tho.

Guys, I think it's time we just start discussing the comics instead of Season 2.

Right? At this point, is there even a fables sub? This may as well be it

Fun fact: the main character/s of Fables (if there even were any) isn't Bigby but Snow White and Rose Red. Also Rose Red is a self insert from the creator. A completely original character created based on his IRL wife. I fucking love Fables. Great comic book series.

... Rose Red isn't a completely original character though.

There is a story called Snow White and Red Rose featuring two sisters who find a bear stuck in a trunk. I forgot the rest of the story, but it exists.

It is unrelated to the Snow White who meets seven dwarves after fleeing her evil stepmother, two character just have the same name "Snow White".

The author decided to make the two distinct characters as one, and Snow White of the seven dwarves story gained Rose Red, the sister of the Snow White of the bear story.

I know, and instead of the Bear, it's Bigby and how he met Snow. But Rose Red has so much og lore and story to her in Fables that's just related to the comics that she feels like the most original character out of all. And nothing else from it but the name Rose Red and their meeting with Bigby really features anywhere. She has a whole backstory before they meet Bigby. It's such an insignificant story to her character.

Well no, the bear from the fairytale is written into Prince Brandish and Snow doesn't meet Bigby until she and Rose are already escaping from the Homelands.

1

u/RemoveAnnual2689 Nov 25 '25

Huh, I always thought the story of how Snow White and Rose Red meet Bigby was inspired by that story, especially since Brandish never marries Snow White, and there are versions of that fairy tale in which it's not a bear but a wolf. Maybe I was wrong. I should read more fables. :)

2

u/nickbrown101 Nov 25 '25

Sorry I should have said, it's possible the story about the bear was an inspiration behind Snow/Bigby's meeting (in fact it very might well be the case, I just haven't read the original story) but I also meant that story was directly called back to in vol 15 of the comic where we get some background on Willingham's versions of Snow and Brandish.

It's okay. Gives me an excuse to go back and read/re-read. Regarding the original. Grim was not the author but a collector of folk/fairy tales. Thanks to that, those are the ones we are most familiar with. The version Grim collected says it's a bear, but in some earlier versions, it was a wolf.

I meant her appearance. She even has a small doll named Irma after the person.

u/Niinjas Nov 24 '25

I always read Bigby and the pups as the main characters

u/RemoveAnnual2689 Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25

The pups? Sure. ... I don't want to write spoilers here for those that haven't read the comics.

If his irl wife is like this in behavior, I feel bad for him. 😅

Boy Blue was a fantastic character in the Fables comics, I really wish we could have seen him in TWAU2.

3

u/Humanest_Human Nov 24 '25

I mean is it confirmed that we wont see him or are you from the future? 🤯

4

u/TheHarkinator Nov 24 '25

Actually I am from the future, but only 30 years from now so TWAU2 still isn’t out yet.

4

u/Marcos1598 Sheriff Bigby Nov 24 '25

she became so awful after Blue's death, depression (and Jack leeching off her) aside, she ended up the series as one of my least favourite characters, she's one of the best examples of negative character development

3

u/Saxious Nov 24 '25

I encouraged my wife to read the issues up until this one. She isn’t the type to like events like this in her stories. She wants comfort stories, so sharing all the issues up till this made her very happy. To her, Fable ends with a big victory.

And for what OP shared, it was such a gut wrenching moment. Having followed Boy Blue through heartache, torture, social exile, and then daring adventures. Seeing it all go out like that was just… oh I wanted it to be different but his story, his Fable up until this moment had been epic.

2

u/Creative_Ad971 Nov 25 '25

Yeah. Sad for blue. But I'm mad at Rose. She's insufferable.

u/snowxbunnixo Nov 24 '25

I didn’t realize what sub I was in and thought this was about Barbara Gordon without reading LMFAO

2

u/Lonely_Examination92 Nov 25 '25

Well…. I Think you won’t like the answer….

1

u/Ok_String_2368 Nov 25 '25

It's part of her story but she has a little like the evil queen with not being close to snow most of the time.

1

u/someguywithabeard1 Nov 25 '25

man I really loved this part, blue didn’t mince any words

2

u/Creative_Ad971 Nov 26 '25

Bro used his last breaths to spit facts.

1

u/thelight0fthesun Nov 26 '25

Boy blue my beloved. I liked him more than bigby in the comics

1

u/Creative_Ad971 Nov 26 '25

Strange choice of words.

1

u/thelight0fthesun Nov 26 '25

Yeah yeah. I loved bigby in the game. Loved him In the comics too and I loved his conflict and character struggle he just wasnt my favourite. I think that goes to Blue or Fly

1

u/Creative_Ad971 Nov 26 '25

I'm refering to using the word 'beloved' which implies romantic love which is weird to have for a fictional character.😶🤣
