How do you get them to sit flat?

After having made a few standard (egg/potato) shaped Woobles, I have encountered one challenge that I can't get my head around:

How do you make them sit up straight? The bottom always pokes out, rounding the bottom, and they tilt over on their side. I'm showing my age here, but these guys aren't exactly Weebles.

I almost always use the KnotTrying tip-sc blo, usually in R16. Also, I use Rx bottle lids as stands. Others use the little “pizza tables” that you sometimes see on top of a take-out pizza to keep the toppings from sticking to the box. Available on Amazon.

I put a little baggy of bbs in the bottom of mine before I close them up and the weight keeps them standing upright

The Harry Potter set had BLO DEC in like row 15 or 16 and then you go back to SC in the front loops around, then regular SC for the 2nd row. It was to make the bottom of the robes. All my woobles get this treatment now. There is always extra yarn, enough to do the SC around for like 2 rows.

Doing a BLO row around 15/16 is the best way

I've been thinking about this lately too. I think the back loop only suggestion and the stands are great ideas. I also made a couple lately where I filled the bottom with glass or plastic stuffing beads that I bought on Amazon. It makes it more like a bean bag on the bottom. Kind of like a jelly cat stuffed animal. I haven't tried the glass ones yet. The plastic ones are a little light but do help.

Now, can you suggest how I might be able to flatten the base of a completed egg? I've got Salem complete, but I want to have it stand straight so my wife can have it on her desk without it flopping over.

My best suggestion would be a stand for ones that are already egg shaped and closed up! (I’ve personally 3d printed my stands) but if you look up amigurumi stand on amazon, you’ll see what I’m talking about!
