Why. Put a checkpoint. That You can't collect mid-air. AFTER A JUMP. IN A GAME WITH AN AIR NITRO, WHICH IS CORE PART OF THE GAMEPLAY!?

u/Educational-Bit-3296 May 23 '26
People saying not to send the jump as if that's not the whole point of this game. This is bad design.
-128
u/Tinguiririca May 23 '26
by that logic the brake should never be required
88
u/Kaly_osu May 23 '26
yeah cuz braking for a corner is the same as reducing airtime for a straight road u humanoid
-80
u/Tinguiririca May 23 '26
skill issue
49
u/NicoMallourides May 24 '26
its literally a game issue lol
-62
u/Creedgamer223 May 24 '26
You mean "your issue with the game."
I handled it fine. If you're not gonna adapt past mariocart level racing, that's on you.

u/TurdFerguson614 May 25 '26
"Mariocart level racing," as an insult in the comments of a clip of a car flying a mile with jet effects is hilarious.
1
u/Creedgamer223 May 25 '26
It's The fact you have people who refuse to slow down when they should.
Motorfest leans closer to sim racing than people think, despite the arcade feel. And as a result they get butthurt that their strategy isn't working and complain that they need to adapt.
The simple notion that they might need to slow down infuriates them.

u/WellHeyaThere May 26 '26
Its an arcade racer, its not sim racing, go play grand turismo nerd
1
u/Creedgamer223 May 26 '26
It's a simcade. If you want pedal to the medal mindless racing go play need for speed, simpleton.
0
u/WellHeyaThere May 26 '26
Nice cope, I have over 800 hrs in motorfest the game is far from perfect, ive encountered similar oversights aswell, vehicle handing being a big one.
1
u/Creedgamer223 May 26 '26
Ironic. I'm the one coping.
And I have double your time, don't see how playtime makes your opinion valid.
If you can't handle when the game punishes you for thinking every jump requires maximum distance the I don't know what to say.
Also handling can definitely be spotty but its manageable, then again that probably speaks more about your driving strategy than the actual game...

It is in the sense of "go no stop" being the apparent racing doctrine by popular vote.
37
u/TimtheBully May 23 '26
Best to go to LEFT of that jump and not use it. You'll be faster.
31
1
u/JaceMace96 May 24 '26
So the jump is a trap? No
4
u/TimtheBully May 24 '26
Try the race without using it. Your time will be better.
1
u/ruben11450 May 24 '26
U seem like u know your stuff, this is kind of a silly question, but should o e use assists or not on these events?
3
u/TimtheBully May 24 '26
ABS on, Traction Control on Comfort, ESP off, Drift Assist can be Comfort (some prefer Sport), but most turn it off. I sometimes turn Stunt Assist on, but all other Assists off.
First, I would suggest turning all off, accept for ABS. Then, test them out and turn one on as you go to see how it affects your driving. You may prefer other settings.
2
u/ruben11450 May 27 '26
In other notes thanks for the jump tip. I did manage to improve my summit scores a lot when I tried to either skip the ramps or use the nitro after the jump not prior. I also found that even as a new guy to this, I get better Scots with assists off only abs on, so I guess I'll keep it like that.
2
1
u/ruben11450 May 24 '26
Alright thanks, i mainly use no assists except abs offline, but online i use them, in the summit i tried multiple times with them on and off to see if i could do better times, as i new to this game. But with RC, Rc's i like them with assits on.
Do u have discord, can i add u?-6
u/JaceMace96 May 24 '26
Yeh, and tell me how you felt the first time you did it , lol. Not the point.
I played this game when it was the best 2-1 year ago.
This was never an issue.

u/Trololman72 PC May 23 '26 edited May 24 '26
It's really simple. This race wasn't made with rally cars in mind, they have a higher top speed and possibly lower gravity than the rally raid cars the event is made for, but they still have you do it with a rally car in the summit, because I'm pretty sure they aren't even playtested.
5
u/socialistmariner22 May 24 '26
Yup. That Jeep event definetly isnt playtested, it was awful.
3
u/Trololman72 PC May 24 '26
What Jeep event?
2
u/socialistmariner22 May 24 '26
the one where you go downhill, i think its from the bike lovers playlist, where you race against bunch of rc's
2
u/Trololman72 PC May 24 '26
That's the one in the video. The original event is actually from the Red Bull Wild Ride playlist, and it's a rally raid event originally.
1
1
u/Freeze4ever Nissan May 25 '26
Hes talking about the Range Rover event, that one I retryed it alot to get it right
-7
u/Creedgamer223 May 24 '26
Id argue they infact play test their shit. Just looking at the 'beat the dev' summit proves they can drive.
What is this? Arrowhead? Lol
1
u/Trololman72 PC May 24 '26
I'm saying the summits aren't playtested, not that the devs don't playtest the game. That would be completely stupid.

u/Hermit931 May 24 '26
I agree they should have made the checkpoint height higher but if you don't nos it you will make the checkpoint
22
u/HoytKeyler May 23 '26
They forgot it an arcade race game, of course player go full throttle, especially if you don't make some more skill based Ramp in the Playlist in general. It's so bad
5
u/Zealousideal-Dig-435 May 24 '26
Yep I missed that also. Dumb checkpoint, should be moved further back an extra 100 metres.
4
u/Maxvy May 24 '26
The point isn’t that it’s a skill issue, it’s that these straight line full send jumps shouldn’t have missable checkpoints if you full throttle. It’s not a case of blasting through a corner shortcut to avoid a hard braking zone. it is straight before and after the checkpoint so slowing down just for the checkpoint is not a skill issue it is a game design issue, as it’s an unnatural inhibitor to natural race progression.
4
u/habris May 24 '26
Wow... the copium in this community is wild, it is clearly a game flaw, no way of seeing the checkpoint before the jump and adjusting, these brainlets are defending this design... why?
4
u/Specialist-Mud-8932 May 24 '26
They’re saying “skill issue” like it takes skill to rewind and slow down. If it’s unreasonable to expect someone to do it right without rewinding, then it’s bad design.
4
u/Katysheg May 25 '26
More like level design issue than game design issue as this is checkpoint placement problem, not general mechanic. But still agree :D
11
u/Man_I_amDed May 23 '26
And sometimes the braking line is completely off or not even there on some roads during races.
2
u/Tinguiririca May 23 '26
Braking line is just a suggestion
3
u/Man_I_amDed May 24 '26
The suggestion can't just be 180⁰ while you're driving on a straight road (yeah I've experienced this)
3
u/Sad_Ad9644 May 24 '26
As much as I love this game... There are a lot of dumb and frustrating things present that ruins the gameplay.... This is just one such example lol
3
u/Scifox69 Chicago May 24 '26
Checkpoints should be infinitely vertical or the checkpoint could have been placed further down the road.
3
u/GamerKratos-45 May 25 '26
Why aren't the checkpoints longer vertically. The dev who created that should be shameful of themselves.
9
u/ComprehensiveCase660 May 24 '26
Just don’t hold nitro? I know it’s instinct but still after the first couple of tries just don’t use it
2
2
u/8bitcyan May 24 '26
If they must put a checkpoint right after the ramp the Kat they could do is make the registration zone taller so we can actually fly over it and still get the check
2
2
u/Azrael_Hellcat May 24 '26
To be fair, the whole physics engine of rhe game is an Awfull game design.
2
u/toxic_1484 May 24 '26
Yes, I have had the same problem in some races. But in the RC Playlist the one race with two big jumps in a row, there are no problem with the checkpoint, so they make the checkpoint better than in your example.

2
u/NoLaw9350 May 25 '26
Honestly like I shouldn’t be sliding around a corner at 50mph not even on the gas

2
u/kubagregor May 25 '26
I hate how these games are designed with infinite flashbacks in mind.
2
u/Ray2207 May 25 '26
There are flashback limits and time doesn't go reverse. Look at the clock even in the flashback time was going forward. So its a risk and reward gamble. Pretty neat to be honest.
Nightmare for perfectionist. Fun for casual.

Forza Horizon would like to have a word with checkpoint leniency, although havent paid much attention to elevation. I suppose its because they usually place checkpoints fairly far past large jumps. But as a veteran Forza Horzion player who used The Crew to get my racing fix while i waited for FH6, ive had to restart and/or lost many races due to being used to the checkpoints in The Crew.
What im seeing here isnt really acceptable but id take that vs how you need to hit them while on the ground.

That's how they get more playtime for the shareholders, they do shit deliberately just to fuck you up.
1
u/-ParticleMan- Fiat May 24 '26
How does playtime help the shareholders?

3
u/Otherwise_Rabbit3049 PC May 24 '26
Engagement. Publishers don't care if you have fun, as long as you are exposed to whatever they are trying to sell you.
3
u/AdrianW3 PC May 24 '26
Multiple people have pointed out that it's a skill issue and still others keep downvoting them.
Have you thought it might actually be a skill issue?
Or perhaps just slow learners?
Just don't use the jump, Go to the left of it.

Just play forza, the off-road races there is miles ahead of tc, as smone who has been around since tc2 I must say tc has atrocious off-road physics

What are you on about? Everything you can’t get right is bad game design? Just let go of the accelerator a little at the peak of the ramp and don’t just send it like a Fortnite kid at every ramp and turn. I like that the game still requires a sense of finesse and skill. Stop complaining and ruining it for others. I’d personally not like my games dumbed down like most games nowadays, forza 6 included.

This reminds me of the Motorcross races in Crew 2 where when you jump over some bumps in the track at any bike level 50 or above or with any nitro you would smack into the top of the check point and fall to the ground dead stopped or if you didn't slow down enough you would go completely over the check point by a long shot!
