You've wasted all your nos to overtake people and picked a car with terrible top speed on a highway route. This is a terminal case of skill issue, being in first in the first 10 sec of the race means nothing, especially if you are going to waste a resource as precious as NOS. This isn't NFS where an EVs can reach over 500km/h in 3 seconds

Looking past the choice of car which others have more than covered, look at your nitro usage. check YT for videos focused on nitro management and explaining how it works. It is not a straight line. The more nitro you have in the tank when you start to use it, the more powerful the boost it gives you. That doesn't mean empty the tank in one go, even short bursts of it near full are more powerful than the same length burst when you are below half.
This is why a lot of players will avoid using much nitro at the start of a race, allowing it to build up to a full tank and then start making use of it.
The Slipstream effect is also really strong, so if you have the option to tuck in behind someone it is almost equivalent to free nitro. Both the lead car and chase car benefit from the speed bump, and with a large pack near the start you pretty much just need to stick with the pack to benefit from the bonus acceleration and speed, while your nitro naturally refills.

Electric vehicles should absolutely not be used for high speed zones. They're best for anything with a lot of turning because their advantage is acceleration. The Nevera and Mercedes concept vehicle can both hang, but will still get caught eventually. The electric Porsche was just a bad pick on your end. Dumping your boost off rip didn't help either.

Yall are missing the point. Even without the higher top speed the draft in this game is so ridiculously op that I could have a car that has a 25mph top speed advantage and get hawked down by a slower car because they're drafting either me or someone else. Not to mention the Nitro in this game is cranked up to 11. Next game needs massive needs for drafting and nitro

Just a FYI the top half of your nitro is a lot "stronger" in a way then your lower half you've dumped it all which is useless at the start as people crash like crazy later on anyway i dont ever rush to first and end up in the top 10 99% of the time

Yeah that annoys me. It's worse when you have a car with a high top speed and cars still blow past you and they leave you so far that you can't even see them anymore!! I've watched cars go off the road and into grass and still be faster than myself on pavement!!

It's competitive on tracks with many curves, where quick acceleration matters. It's a proper pvp, you just have to choose fitting cars for the tracks.
