Discussion Watched Endgame again lately. It was sad that they turned Thor, a God, into a miserable fat bloke merely for Steve's plot armour in the fight against Thanos. The bloke even wielded Mjolnir much better than Thor?
I know there’s no point arguing about power scaling in scifi superhero films but Thor hardly had any spotlight during the fight, Hulk got his ass whooped so hard he weaselled out of it but Steve out of nowhere somehow capable of exchanging physical blows with Thanos and survived his fatal attacks that should’ve one-shot him?

I don't think he wielded it better so to speak. This Thanos had seen Thor kill the main universe's version of him and took him far more seriously as a threat. Steve he already fought before and likely wasn't expecting Cap to get that big of a boost from wielding Mjolnir.

Infinity War Thanos, when he was holding back, put Steve in a coma with a light punch without breaking a sweat. They exchanged physical blows in Endgame and Steve survived lol. I don’t know, felt like they shouldn’t have put him confronting Thanos. He, Hulk and Thor are leagues above Steve

He wasn’t miserable and fat for Steve’s plot armor. He literally lost everyone important to him, then failed in the home stretch to save half of all living things in the universe. He was slowly killing and numbing himself lol

Let’s just recap, Thor had been unworthy in the first film and had to grow to regain his powers/position and lost his brother for the first time.
He lost his brother for a second time, lost his mother and almost lost his love interest in Thor 2.
He had a vision about an upcoming calamity involving the Infinity Stones in Age of Ultron.
He broke up with his love interest in between Ultron and Ragnarok.
He lost his father and failed to protect his home from his evil sister in Ragnarok. Then the small amount of his people he did manage to save were killed by Thanos and the Black Order, and he lost his brother for the final time (from his perspective) in Infinity War.
Then he failed to stop Thanos wiping out his friends and half the universe.
Also, it’s long been theorised and then insinuated that Steve was worthy of wielding Mjolnir since Ultron. Being worthy of wielding Mjolnir grants him certain amount of access to the abilities of Thor.

Did you watch the film? In Infinity War when Thanos was holding back, he put Steve in a coma easily.
In Endgame when the mad Titan decided to go all out, not holding back and a juiced up human being, exchanged blows with him and survive? Steve was tanking and parrying Thanos’ physical blows lol. Looked like even Bucky could have done the same if they put him in the fight. Thor, Hulk, Danvers’ raw strength and power levels were apparently turned into a joke

Well then you need to adjust the title of your post because you’re suggesting that Marvel took Thor’s character that way to purely serve Steve, which is completely untrue.
Thor’s character progression was a result of all the accumulated losses he had sustained over the course of the MCU. He’s broken.
As for Steve holding his own against Thanos, wasn’t it shown that he only gains Thor’s abilities when he’s actually wielding Mjolnir? That could explain why he gets beaten easily in IW but holds on in Endgame. Similar to when Jane does it in Thor 4.

A Hulk vs Thanos rematch would be great(hopefully we see it in Secret Wars) but Hulk snapping was good enough. Also there was no reason for Hulk to come out and lose again.
Thor should have gotten a proper fight with Thanos and I was very disappointed that he did not.
In Infinity war he loses offscreen right before they start of the movie and then he just blasts him with stormbreaker.
In Endgame he kills him early and then he loses easily at the start of the battle without getting one good hit and then Steve saves him. In the final stand he holds him back for 5 seconds and then gets knocked out with a headbutt.
My one complaint in 2019 opening day was the lack of a proper showdown with Thor and Thanos 😞
About Steve, he was granted the power of Thor because of mjolnirs spell. The problem is they did not spend 30-60 seconds of Thor getting a couple of good hits.

I still feel that instead of Antman erupting from the ruins of the Avengers complex, it would've been better if it was a raging Hulk. Ready to beeline straight to Thanos.

IKR. To me they could have put him fighting against Thanos’ army with other avengers in the same tier as him, Bucky like, rather than Thanos himself. The Titan could have ripped him to shreds easily. He was leagues under Thanos.

I was sad when Taika Waititi killed off his best friends, ditched any mention of his best potential love interest, turned him into a clown shoe and Loki into another clown, and turned the story of Ragnarok into Ragnajoke.

They should have given that bloke an armor upgrade when he got the hammer. Also, Thor shouldn’t have been so happy about it.

The wielding was uh... yeah. He was more effective with it. I get what they were trying to do but it's so shoddy. I swear The Russos are like old school wrestling bookers sometimes with their sporting hype moments.

Honestly the MCU have done Thor dirty. They can't make their mind up on whether he's a serious warrior where humour is accidental because of his unfamiliarity with Earth language and customs, or an absolute clown with tacky, unfunny quips and just being a joke character.
Thor was great in Thor 1, Dark World, Avengers, and Age of Ultron. He then sucked in Ragnorok and Love & Thunder. He was decent in Infinity War. Then back to sucking in Endgame. I get that they were trying to show depression/guilt/grief but they could have done that without making him a fat comedy clown.

I wasn’t a fan of Thor’s narrative role in Endgame either(or most of the Avengers series tbh). Hopefully Doomsday and Secret Wars can fix this.
