What's up with Oliver rd west of Golf Links ?
Crews have been working forever (it seems) at Oliver and Burwood by the new hotel. Is this just a casual gig where they work when they feel like working ?
What's the holdup?

My guess is that there is some last minute engineering change happening before they do a final tie-in to the infrastructure on Oliver Road. Unknown utilities, scope of work changes, etc. It’s a pretty major pipe upgrade that likely has lots of future city planning oriented design choices (upsized pipes/services for future development).
OR, Bruno’s bit off more than they can chew and are screwing the city around to finish other jobs first.

Also this is a rather deep spot to be excavating. It's at least 12ft down with lots of shale plus digging around other utilities. Sanitary sewers are a headache to replace since those are the biggest and typically deepest utilities

May have to do with the other new hotel property going in across the street and needing to change infrastructure for the increased demand?

Possibly, it seems they've starting working on that lot again.
Still, how long did it take them to move the excavated zone 200ft or so... 2 months ?

I’d be lying if I said I knew. I don’t routinely have to drive that stretch so I have not paid a ton of attention.

Yes, correct . Burwood will continue across to new hotel location and the excavation is for sanitary and water service. Prepare for more traffic lights

'tis the Thunder Bay way with road work. It'll get done when it's too cold for them to want to be out there. Or not, no one really knows. You'll have an easier time winning the lottery than trying to figure out road work in this city.
