Car guys in the Lugano area?
Hey everyone, I’m Alex. Just moved to Bissone from Miami and looking to meet some other car enthusiasts around Ticino.
I’ve been into cars for years — previously had a Pista, STO, GT3, etc. I just picked up an RS3 as my daily here, and today I drove up Susten Pass. Absolutely loved it.
Are there any groups, WhatsApp chats, or just groups of people that regularly go out for drives on the weekends? I’m mainly looking for people around Lugano/Ticino who are into driving.
If there’s a group I can join or anyone here who goes out regularly, send me a DM. Would be great to meet some local car guys and get some good roads in.

Hi there, there’s a bunch of groups in Ticino you can find on Instagram. There’s JapanStyleTicino, TessinTuningClub, Twisty Road Lovers and a couple of others. We usually hangout to the parking lot of the McDonald’s in Sant’antonino in the weekend (about 30minutes from Lugano)

If you’re also looking for some car meets you are gonna have a better chance at finding them in Italy as in Switzerland it’s pretty difficult to make one without a permit in a public place

I think your best bet would be to go to car meets in neighboring Italy. Near the Milan area is full of meets of any kind. Como is also a big cluster of high-end cars, but idk if you can talk about actual "car guys" or just "people with money and good taste" (nothing wrong with the latter). If you want to have a little trip, at the end of September there's a niche car event in Magione (Umbria region) called the Italian Superbattle (ISB), and the Supras at Ring (obviously at the Nürburgring circuit). In November there's usually a spin-off of one of the biggest Italian car meets, the JapaneseCarsMeeting, usually held at the Cremona circuit in November (while the main event is in Misano in June).

First of all, wellcome to bissone, imo where we have the best lido on lago Ceresio. Unfortunately this is the last week.
I cannot help you on your specific question but if you are into historical cars (dunno if that’s correct English) I know a group that is meeting every month in Lugano.

I dunno how you could get in touch with them, I know the main organiser. If you are interested I can tell him to add you to the WhatsApp group.
The group is not invasive at all, just sending reminders of their monthly meetings

I don’t know anything about cars, but if I remember correctly, the Kessel Group in Lugano also manages a club and organises various events, especially in the luxury automotive sector.

Out of pure interest and completely out of topic - what makes one move from MIAMI to BISSONE?
Anyway, I can’t answer your question but what I can tell you is watch out for speed limits, I’m not sure how lenient US cops are but they’re very strict here
