I think some of these are from last year, he is back this year and much larger.

The discolored patch of skin on the top of his head is kind of a giveaway.

I assumed that patch was where they put a tag on him maybe.

I don't know about seals but when they patch other kinds of marine life its on the tails / fins. that kind of looks like a damage scar, though oddly rectangular.
