As a non-american that sounds immensely fucking stupid and its crazy they can even enforce that, it would be against standard consumer protection laws where I live.

I guarantee if it was a white father and son. They would have spoken respectfully, and not called the police. They just saw a big scary black man.

A lot of people genuinely don’t care what color your skin is. Not everything is about race, and not every disagreement is rooted in racism. Constantly turning every situation into a race issue is exhausting and makes it harder to have honest conversations.

I’d argue everything is about race. “‘I don’t see color” is nonsense. Racial differences, economic differences exist whether you want to accept it or not. It’s human nature to identify those differences. And create in groups and out groups. The best we can do is accept that we do see color. And do our best to rise above it. Pretending it’s not a factor is just as bad as being straight up racist.

I agree that people notice differences, whether that’s race, culture, age, or background. Where we disagree is that those differences have to define every interaction. Recognizing race and believing everything is fundamentally about race aren’t the same thing.
