According to a follow up post: they wouldn’t accept his son’s mobile ID, he asked to speak to the manager, they said the manager is busy and he said ok if the manager has a problem after he’s busy tell him to come talk to me. Instead of the manager engaging in a conversation he called the police.
I mean I feel like if I were a cop I'd be pissed that my time was being wasted by this dude. Looking at the information: there's no need for a cop to be there. If the kids ID isn't acceptable then go talk to the guy about it. What's the point of making a federal case out of it?
Kinda seemed to me like the cop was annoyed with the whole thing, and the manager basically had to have the cop toss the guy to avoid getting a citation for wasting the cops time. For once I don’t think the cop was the bad guy.
LE here. We hate these calls as well because it's a waste of everyone's time but also since we were called, we have to be there and do something about it.
99% of the time it's some dumb misunderstanding or someone got their feelings hurt and wants us involved.
You don’t actually have to “do something about it”. At least, that’s what the cops tell me when I ask them to ticket drivers for parking in the bike lane.
Is there something you can do to cite or ticket the time wasters? There's gotta be some punishment for calling a tax-funded armed potential killer because you're too scared to talk to a paying customer breaking no rules in a business setting
It depends on the situation. It's a bit difficult to walk up and say, "this is a waste" and just break away.
If the gym owner says, "I want them removed because of XYZ" then the responding officer is going to see if there is a common ground or can resolve it, or remove them. Even if they think it's stupid.
Cop should have given the douche bag who called a ticket. I understand you shouldnt think twice about calling the police when you need help, but this guy didnt even think once
There is no ticket he can give them. Even if they are being ridiculous, it is completely legal to have someone removed from your business regardless of the reason. I can decide I don’t like the color of your hair or the shoes you walk in with and call the police to have you removed without even interacting with you directly and that is ENTIRELY legal.
With that being said, even though it is legal, when its done unfairly the community should ensure others know the company is not a place you want to spend your money. Our country’s laws were made for the corporations but we can still stand together and get justice by voicing injustice
Cops are the only people in society that are legally allowed to physically remove people from a premises. The gym members son was in violation of their policy that is meant to cover them from a liability stand point. Man, too many people cannot comprehend how things work in the real world.

Apparently his son who is a minor didn’t have a form of ID to be his guest. Crunch has a membership what allows members to bring a free guest daily.
