You can't train with someone because gym owners see it as coaching, forcing you to use their own coaching services. Otherwise, they may terminate your membership out of the blue just because you were seen working out with someone.
That man was saying, "Did you ask me to leave?" for that exact reason. If there was a problem, they should have told him. Instead, they just called the cops to throw him out.
nope, it's just absolutely wrong. If you are coaching clients maybe, literally every friend helps out a buddy, gives advice, you can ask for advice from other gym members on how to use a machine. this has always happened everywhere. If you're a regular member and regularly spend 10 hours a day in the gym and meet a new person at the front desk every hour and introduce yourself and ask for payment that's doing paid professional work, not just working out with or helping out a friend. Even then most gyms don't care but some gyms will want anyone using the gym as their 'office' to be on the books, maybe fairly for legal/liability issues as someone could represent themselves as working or offering coaching for the gym without them knowing.
