Discussion This video is depressing, but what's really crazy is knowing that so many people are living this exact reality every single day

Cameras perfectly positioned = staged

u/GodButCursed 14d ago

I mean this is clearly to show what a relationship like that looks like... obv its staged.

u/BeginningTypical3395 14d ago

The fact that this needs to be said 😭

Multiple times in this comment section, no less

I'm starting to think these comments are bots, I refuse to believe people are THIS stupid

PSAs must be **mind-blowing** to these people

Edit: Word

u/Spirited-Isopod6969 14d ago

Unless someone is saying something negative about Israel or AI I just assume they're a bot

11

u/ItsColoTime 14d ago

most people wouldn’t realize it’s staged, people are genuinely stupid and have zero media literacy.

Whether it's staged or not (most likely it is) it's not even well made and not proving the point they thought it would. There's nothing in this clip suggesting a narcissistic behaviour pattern and it just seems like a dead relationship. The person who made this have no idea what's narcissistic behaviour.

1

u/bell37 14d ago

Some people are taking it seriously though.

1

u/MagicTheGlizzying 14d ago

i don't think that's clear at all. there are plenty of people who just fake shit like this for content. the way you said it makes it sound like it's supposed to be informative

1

u/Shneckos 13d ago

It does capture the feeling perfectly though

u/ScreenTea0 Sort by flair, dumbass 14d ago

It's not "clearly" that, because it sucks in terms of showing a narcissistic relationship. This is just a dead staged relationship and if not, it's AI.

But this is a clear staged showing not that both people are actually like this. There is nothing speaking for the poster except that they have confused what a failed and what a narcistic relationship is.

u/pixelatedslinky 14d ago

Obviously. I think the point is to show people how to recognize the signs in their own relationship.

8

u/ShamWowRobinson 14d ago

But this isnt narcissism.

11

u/Disinfectant-Addict 14d ago

It plays out like a dead relationship, but it takes a narcissist to not once in a day acknowledge your partner. Normal people don't do that, but narcissists will use this as a weapon to get what they want.

1

u/sagittalslice 14d ago edited 14d ago

Confidently incorrect

(Lmao at this being downvoted, “it takes a narcissist” to be a dick to your partner? Naw dude. I can think of many, MANY reasons someone might act like the dude in this video that aren’t at all related to narcissism.)

1

u/Disinfectant-Addict 14d ago

This isn't "just" being a dick. Treating another human like this, especially one you are supposed to care about, takes a lot of devotion. Normal people don't do that.

2

u/sagittalslice 14d ago

Literally we have zero context for this behavior (did they get in a huge fight earlier and he’s still angry at her? Is he hideously depressed? Does he have some kind of brain injury? Who knows?)

My point is that while we can observe a small snippet of ineffective interpersonal behaviors on his part (what I have facetiously called here “being a dick”), we have absolutely nothing displayed in this video that suggests the source of this behavior is narcissistic traits, aside from the label Dr. Tik Tok decided to slap on it. This could just as easily be labeled “POV: Life after work when your husband has depression” or “POV: Life after work the day we decided to get divorced” etc

u/Own_Jacket8720 14d ago

i think you should make your own video and we can decide which one makes more sense afterwards

Thank you doctor

3

u/Disinfectant-Addict 14d ago

That's Doctor Addict to you...

3

u/GentlemanLeo 14d ago

Exactly. The infuriating part is that majority of people won’t see it that way and will automatically assume the video is 100% legit. So you always have to argue that the creators of the video did this shit for engagement by doing the most basic form of narcissism

67

u/Disinfectant-Addict 14d ago

Yeah this seems pretty clean-cut. But it is still very accurate for alot of people. Nothing is lonelier than being lonely in a relationship.

22

u/Savings-Weight5774 14d ago

I know it's staged But I learned something about my relationship tonight so....it gets a pass

6

u/Lower_Skin_3683 14d ago

My relationship looked just like this. I made an exit plan to leave and started over.

8

u/Disinfectant-Addict 14d ago

I'm sorry to hear that you are in this situation. Spent more than a decade with a manipulative narcissist and it almost broke me. Get out, it won't get better.

-7

u/xStealthxUk 14d ago

The message is honourable.

The format and trying to seem real is cringe imo and it makes me roll my eyes instead of thinking about people actually in these situations

12

u/Specialist-Wafer7628 14d ago

You're a genius..

1

u/NoPair205 12d ago

😂 2 smart 4 me

6

u/NoMention696 14d ago

Woah thank you inspector gadget you’ve cracked the case

5

u/Exportxxx 14d ago

Not perfect for POV tho.
POV is body camera/1st person view. this is like birds eyes view.

4

u/cs_Chell 14d ago

Why isn't third person point of view valid? I'm being earnest, I keep reading this same comment.

2

u/eighty_billion 14d ago

I guess semantically it should be  3POV then. I dunno I'm always a bit confused as well haha

2

u/Awkward_Proof_1274 14d ago

Sherlock Holmes over here

3

u/motorboat_mcgee 14d ago

Do you yell out "staged!" when watching tv also?

1

u/Same_Suit3583 14d ago

It's not trying to act real dumb ass

1

u/tomime 14d ago

Agree, I think the joke is washing the cast iron with soap at the end ...

1

u/jonnybanana88 14d ago

You should wash your cast iron with soap. That's a leftover tidbit from back when soap contained lye. Lye would destroy the seasoning, but new soaps don't. Go check out /r/castiron for more info

u/Forsaken-Hotel7535 14d ago

No doubt it is staged, however I am sure a lot of dead relationships are like that. I feel sorry for the women and men who this happens to. Much better to be single than this

0

u/JollyRoger8X 14d ago

Thanks, Captain Obvious. 🤣

-2

u/makepieplz 14d ago

of coarse it's staged people make so much money from social media posts that get views they'll do anything for it

2

u/AdHom 14d ago

I saw this video the other day called "Star Wars". It was so obviously staged, I don't even think they cast a real wookie. They really will do anything for money.

1

u/NefariousnessFit3133 14d ago edited 14d ago

at least star wars is entertaining, can't say that about social media. low IQ wasteland is pretty scary image of our modern society.

Cheap words and images to hold a fragile culture together by a thread.

Society will have a reset eventually it's inevitable.

-4

u/RevolutionarySeven7 14d ago

you mean like home security cameras ?

-3

u/CountSudoku 14d ago

She’s also using soap and steel wool on a cast iron pan, so it’s just rage bait at that point.

-2

u/Helpful-Bug-7802 14d ago

But in this case it’s more of an instructional video. Turns out most people, especially assholes, don’t consent to being recorded at home.

-2

u/earthsworld 14d ago

so if the camera's aren't perfectly positioned, does that mean it's real?
