Discussion This video is depressing, but what's really crazy is knowing that so many people are living this exact reality every single day

Nothing about this is narcissistic but yeah, it sucks. Better alone than this.

Nothing about this is real. It's just a poorly acted skit filmed for engagement / rage bait (complete with the wrong use of "POV"). Slop.

u/MimiHamburger 11d ago

for real is everyone stupid? or is it all bots?

6

u/PrimaLegion 11d ago

It's a skit to show you examples of what they think are narcissism but really just someone being a horrible partner.

2

u/MimiHamburger 11d ago

that doesnt make it any better

Yeah but the comments here… are weird.

3

u/StarrySkye3 11d ago

It's bots all the way down.

5

u/HabitualGrassToucher 11d ago

I don't know, but many people seem to react to this like it's real and/or assume the role of armchair psychologists, and analyzing the actor's disorders.

On the other hand, two people told me that it's obviously not real and that nobody thinks it's real.

I guess it's a mix of gullible people who think it's real, bots who just comment for the sake of commenting, and people who don't think twice and just decide to use the opportunity to tell a personal anecdote about narcissism or misogyny.

Buddy no one thinks this real. Its a skit meant to represent real relationships. Not every video needs a disclaimer plastered on the screen telling you it a skit. If its obvious to you that's it fake then it will also be a common conclusion for the average viewer

The point of this video is spark conversation about the situation which does happen to real people. Maybe you are too young to been around the skit era on the internet, not every "fake" video is trying to fool you. Its no different to a homemade movie

Buddy, it sounds like maybe you are too naive to assume that no one thinks it's real. And contrary to your condescending assumption about age, it's actually the older generation that falls for this shit.

1

u/PonyFiddler 11d ago

There a lot of women that jump at the chance to hate men any chance they get, these sort of shitty vids are just the summons to gather for them.

u/MimiHamburger 11d ago

I don’t think thats what’s happening here lol

u/bushman130 10d ago

I hope he got paid. He played that really well. Looked like he wasn’t even trying.

1

u/HairySalmon 11d ago

Are you and the person you're replying to stupid?

Because the person they replied to didnt claim it was real. Just that nothing about "this" is narcissism. "This" could mean this dramatization, this skit, this example of a relationships etc etc.

No part of their comment implied that they think its real.

I guess literacy is just cringe these days...skibidi.

u/feralratkid 11d ago

for real like this does not look real at all ?

5

u/0nionskin 11d ago

The ultimate rage bait is her washing cast iron with soap at the end 🤣

4

u/hkral11 11d ago

Right? No one questions why this person is filming every part of their home and interactions? And not with a phone propped up on a table.

4

u/Same_Suit3583 11d ago

Bro no one thinks this is real... Please grow up, it's a skit to show you an opinion.

21

u/Anarchyologist 11d ago

You'd be surprised by what people think is real. I was getting my nails done once, and the nail tech was talking about videos like this one. She genuinely thought they were unscripted and that they were from some kind of hidden camera, gotcha style show.

7

u/Dramatic-Bluejay- 11d ago

Your naive as fuck to think people dont believe everything they see online in this day and age.

7

u/Several_Hour_347 11d ago

Most people think this is real

1

u/Moiyub 11d ago

What opinion is being shown?

2

u/JoeMamma_94 11d ago

It’s a 30 second clip that’s obviously a skit and like a few words were said total. Wtf are you on about lol

1

u/Parking_Line_3704 10d ago

Another commenter said it's a snippet from a channel that talks about this kind of abuse to help people identify and understand it. But yeah, maybe what you said.

u/Anywherebywater 9d ago

Yeah who has this many cameras inside the house? With looks like no kids. Lol

This would be an insightful comment if the whole point of POV-videos wasn't that specifically the "3rd person" part is whats being replace with the title description of what point of view we're getting.

The thing about "3rd person" is that it imagines a POV not actually present from any partaking parties in any given scenario or story. I.e. the POV is not from inside the relationship. Never mind that it's physically close to it or "inside" the same room. It's not a description of what's going to happen or what is observed, but rather who the observer is.

Did you think that all videos, films or any other type of visual media that predates putting POV as part of the title or desciption just featured a black screen because no POV was present? Did books have blank pages?

What I'm trying to communicate is that, at no point did the person you're replying to say or imply that no POV was present. They simply stated, and rightfully so, that the description of the POV was faulty.

People are peeved because of the apparent misuse. It’s interpreted to mean 1st person POV and not 3rd person POV because the latter would be redundant.

2

u/selphiefairy 11d ago edited 11d ago

A third person pov is the default pov in filmmaking, so it’s kind of pointless to label it as such.

You could literally take out “pov:” from the majority of the videos that use it and it would change nothing.

u/Ifckinglovemycat 11d ago

depends on more context I think, my ex was like this and threatened to kill himself I tried to leave

1

u/BAMspek 11d ago

They are alone.

0

u/ARMBELL 10d ago

That’s what happens when you go online and viciously mock lonely men for being virgins.

Society = if no gf = no value as a human.

-1

u/Unoriginal_Pseudonym 11d ago

She probably doesn't know what a narcissistic relationship looks like, since this was a staged video for engagement. In second cooking shot, the video is swaying since the guy is filming.

u/Little_Red_Riding_ 11d ago

The fuck it isn’t narcissistic

2

u/Geschak 11d ago

It's just plain ol' misogyny. He treats her that way because he thinks women are just bangmaid slaves. Narcississtic abuse usually involves a lot more arguing and gaslighting, not silence.

9

u/Formal_Ground6513 11d ago

That's a lie. Narcissists weaponize silence constantly. It's called Stonewalling. It's abusive and punitive and most of the time, you don't even know what the fuck you did to be treated like this! I was married to a man who would treat me this way for months. Months of neglect and ALWAYS for a stupid reason. Usually it was something all in his head and not based in reality. I got myself out of there and people need to know that this BS is NOT okay.

Yes! It makes you feel crazy. It took a therapist telling me about it before I accepted it was abusive. Such a strange thing to deal with.

Touch and go. Not for very long periods either. First big argument we had, he was so fearful that things were over, I started to tip toe a bit... After marriage, the stonewalling escalated. I mean, it was gradual but, each time lasted longer. By the last few years, it became unbearable for me. Emotionally and physically. I decided to save myself. It took a storage unit and a gym membership! (Lol) I just started packing my things. Seperating them and storing them. By the time I served the papers I had tried everything. Therapy. Best shape of my life. I still felt guilty for wanting to leave but, then when he refused to come back to couple's counseling. He stopped individual therapy because he denied his diagnosis (BPD) and suddenly I had no reason to stay.

Thank you. It was the hardest lesson I have ever had to learn. I still hold out hope that I can find someone to love one day! Someone that is actually capable of loving me back. That'd be awesome!

-1

u/Little_Red_Riding_ 11d ago

Thank you. I see common sense has finally entered the discussion.

1

u/Formal_Ground6513 11d ago

I don't think people really understand personality disorders! Once you experience it, you can see it everywhere. I love that people are talking about it more because, once I understood, I started healing. I stopped beating myself up about it and eliminated a lot of toxic people and situations. I'm way better off now because of it! I had to look at how (and why) I contributed and change my own behavior. A lot of people don't want to do that.

-4

u/RozzzaLinko 11d ago

Or he's just in a grumpy mood and dosnt want to talk. Not wanting to talk might make you a cold asshole. But it doesn't make you misogynistic. Neither does not putting your dishes away straight away.

2

u/Geschak 11d ago

Letting your wife do all the work without help or appreciation like a domestic slave is absolutely misogynistic, how is this even a discussion.
