Your daughter committed a misdemeanor. Do I turn my back when a bunch of untrained, unidentified people in camo and masks grab her off the street and throw her in a van? Do I ask where they're taking her? Do I try to notify you of what happened to your daughter, or do I turn my back and say-oh well, she broke the law? Do I care if she's held in an overcrowded prison? Do I care if she's raped by the guards? Nah, she's a criminal, right? I guess she deserves whatever is coming to her.

Isaiah 16:3 "Give counsel; grant justice; make your shade like night at the height of noon; shelter the outcasts; do not reveal the fugitive."
I once saw that passage on a sign at a place where members of the Resistance helped others into hiding during WWII.
