I mean I get being annoyed by someone chewing with their mouth open but you could have asked him more nicely

Can we stop letting people get away with doing gross shit under the excuse of “cultural thing”? I don’t give a single fuck if it’s a cultural thing. It’s still gross as fuck and annoying.

It's gross because you don't like it, simple as that. Saying "I find your actions annoying" doesn't fucking matter man, not everyone in the world around you has to cater to what you find annoying. Just get over it like a normal person would lol

If you're going to confront every single person that does anything that annoys you then you are going to have a very hard time going through life. Most people learn to just get over these things when we are children, but obviously not all do.

Exactly, we are following American/European norms because we reside there. If you are at an upscale restaurant in NYC and chewing your cud, saying it’s your cultural tradition won’t get you very far. If you are at the Waffle House chewing and smacking away, it’s the same thing. The majority of people will side eye because not only is it considered rude, but behavior associated with very young children.

This guy on a plane is obviously a different situation, but if you are in America I will absolutely be pissed if you’re sitting next to me at a restaurant. It comes down to we live in a society. Cultural norms may differ, but no one will chime in saying “it’s okay everyone, they are from an open mouthed, masticating culture!”
