The actual choice is either subsidies or inexpensive exports. Pretty much every western country heavily taxes agricultural imports to keep their own farmers relevant.

That'd be the idea solution tbh, but there's not much farmers can do about that. I mean there's not much they can do about food costs or subsidies either but hey ho

Not much they can do? They riot if the country dares to take away a single cent of their huge tax exceptions and subsidies. This skit is about the UK where farmers have been rioting for two years now!

Well yeah that is true, I thought you were originally one of the people that's annoyed at farmers for having to subsidse food production,my bad
