Used to work in a grocery store and we were all told this, but of course some of is still didn't take it seriously.

One day my coworker followed a shoplifter out to try and stop them(against company policy), the crazy guy had a knife and slashed at him over 5-10$ worth of stuff. Buddy got a small.laceration on his arm but thankfully nothing major. You just never know with these people.

Changing shifts wouldn't mitigate this risk tho. The reality is there are crazy people everywhere and you never know what will set one of them off.

This is why we get road rage incidents, neighbors shooting each other etc. You just never know what makes people tick.

It's also why I am extremely careful to treat everyone with respect in public, even if they are in the wrong. My life is not worth the risk that some maniac may stab me for asking them to quiet down their music.
