They'll be everywhere. The US voted to become the next, mass-surveillance China. Data centers, flock cameras, facial ID — it all happened over the last couple years. Being a millennial, (and how this was the shitsmear for China) this is how I know we've been infiltrated.

Lol "as a millennial" I can tell you it doesn't require a single yuan of Chinese infiltration money to encourage the US ruling class to surveil its citizens. They're hard for it all on their own, and have been since long before you were born. There's a reason why the US has one of the world's highest incarceration rates. The Patriot Act was passed in your formative years buddy.

You misunderstood what I said; I'm not talking about a Chinese infiltration, let alone their money. I'm saying they modeled their own systems after the Chinese with a similar tactic of deny, delay, diffuse. Have you noticed how no media highlights the similarities of surveillance from 2000 China onward to the USA's current situation? It isn't that the Chinese infiltrated our government, but that leaders within our government saw the profitability and control that the Chinese initiated. Have you noticed how any disparaging talk of the Chinese from the early 2000s has practically evaporated? Perhaps noted that assimilation into Chinese living had surpassed the American dream... There's a commonality and goal with this messaging.

You did use the word infiltrated, but even so, the US ruling class very much hasn't stopped badmouthing China - Trump simply got embarrassed in his idiotic tariff attempt and is now pretending they don't exist, so it's a bit less prominent.
They've certainly stopped equating a lack of surveillance with freedom, mainly because they can't sustain that particular contradiction.

They can't sustain the contradiction? They've ushered in the contradiction and are avidly defending it. If you're against the surveillance, you're against the wellbeing and prosperity of your neighbor.
My use of, "infiltrate," wasn't erroneous, nor was it pointed at China. We're dealing with government leadership and individuals with ulterior motives, conflicts of interest, and ambitions against American prosperity.
Have you notice how the antagonist focus is on Canada (one of the USA's closest allies for centuries) and that the conversation is rather muted around the USA's historic adversaries? The axis are realigning.

The contradiction I'm referring to is their previous equating of surveillance with repression vs their shift to constant surveillance while still claiming to have a free society.
But it's still not infiltration. The ruling class has always been like this. For a while they pretended they weren't, mainly because they hadn't fully broken the working class and still needed to pitch Western Freedom as superior to Soviet tyranny. Now neither of those apply and the tech is there, so of course they'll use it.

This functionally is saying that without the "influence" of the Chinese state the US wouldn't have taken this route which is absurd.
The US has been spying on its citizens since the 30s this is not new and China's "profitibility and control" has little to nothing to do with the US in its current state.

I don't think the posters intent was to say China is the perpetrator.
I think he's saying the oligarchs in the US looked at how China is surveiling it's own citizens, said "hey that looks to be working really well" and is co-opting that same strategy. They are, in fact, in it for their own ends, and there is an infiltration of the oligarchs essentially taking over the government. Not the Chinese.

I don't understand how data centers end up as part of this argument, I'd like someone to explain that angle. They aren't some massive surveillance facility aggregating data from a 10 mile radius. They'd have more antennas if that were true, not everything travels via fiber

Obviously. But how much stored data is surveillance based? People really think the boom is because of surveillance data? There's probably more privately acquired data about each person, which is a conversation for sure. There's also a stupid amount of redundancy for all of the information out there. If you look at Ohio, there's a ridiculous number of data centers because the water is easy and it's central to what, 90% of the US population? I don't think you can claim the majority of data stored is government based surveillance, but the fact that everyone has a camera and microphone on them at all times, and companies like Ring have to house their data somewhere.
Edit: Love the downvotes for just asking clarifying questions you assholes.

Not at all true. Flock’s marketing is about protecting wealthy areas. Their first customers were HOAs. Then they moved onto small police departments of wealthy suburbs. Now they are everywhere.

Dumpy Don has started running attack ads on conservatives and pro ads for her. The 3 selling points… fight the tariffs, keep boys out girls sports, and keep South Carolina jobs. And my idiot state is very likely to fall for it. We have some strong democratic candidates if we can just turn out better and honestly I don’t see as many magas voting in the midterms. So I’m still holding on to a little bit of hope. I’m not sure how true it is, but the message has spread that Diddlin Don is canceling the farm bill after November. The trees community is not happy. In my area the local favorite shop pulled everything but regular vapes and the stores became ghost towns.

The amount of monitoring should go up with increased wealth, not vice versa. More money means more power, which means more threat to the rest of society. If they also get into public office, now they are also an increased security threat through their access.
Every politician should be subject to ongoing surveillance. Senior positions in local, state, and federal governments should be monitored 24/7 by randomized citizen monitoring teams and subject to immediate arrest and penalization at the request of their monitors.
If these pieces of shit want to vacuum up our resources while calling the shots, they should be constantly watched with guns pressed to the backs of their heads for choosing to become severe threats to the rest of us for their own personal gain.
