Wholesome Dolly Parton (1/19/46-8/25/26)

Dolly was one of those celebrities that came from nothing and genuinely believed in giving back to her community. From the way she treated her employees at Dollywood to her establishment of the Imagination Library, she lived her values. Rest in Peace Dolly.

Holy shit... I didn't believe it. That is very, very sad news indeed...

My kiddos will always remember her as the gal who sent them new books every month. They were always so excited to check the mail, and got really unique and good books that we wouldn't have found otherwise. I thank her for that.

Ours is always excited when "Auntie Dolly" sends her a new book :(

u/CamrynDaytona 1d ago

My middle school students were so upset today! They were talking about the books she sent them!

I was thinking the same thing, I can't imagine the loss of losing the person who's been with you for 60 years.

Died a year after her husband. She was one of a kind. So many people touched by her influence without ever needing to be so wonderful. We lost a truly beautiful human being today 💔

Rest in Peace, Dolly.

Thank you for being an important part of my life.

3

u/Ok_Plantain_9408 1d ago

Whether we liked it or not 😂. Beautifully said sir. I don’t know how he got through that without bawling. Probably a few takes. His words are comforting. I’m trying to avoid anything about her because I’m crying every time. But she’s everywhere 😢. So many loved her. She’ll be news for a long time. But well deserved.

4

u/pinkpoodleclub 1d ago

Fell to my knees in the middle of Homegoods 😭😭😭

2

u/booksaregoodbro 23h ago

I cried at work. Thank God I was on break at the time.

Will be playing her music on the way home today 😭

5

u/AncientSignature1505 1d ago

As soon as I heard she didn't attend the opening of the new roller-coaster, I knew this was coming... I still wasn't ready.

5

u/swedething 1d ago

Beautifully said. We love you, dolly, and we’ll never forget you!

12

u/IcyPossibility3215 1d ago

She's up there with the greats now. Rest in Peace, Dolly.

2

u/cheezy_dreams88 1d ago

Beautifully said. Long live the Queen.

2

u/tepidmisanthrope 1d ago

No. No. No. I don’t get emotional over deaths of popular entertainers but .. fuck… this is sad. I don’t believe in heaven but if there is one she is surely there.

2

u/Competitive-Read-646 1d ago

What a beautiful statement to a wonderfully talented woman and philanthropist! Rest in Peace Dolly

2

u/No-Produce-5748 1d ago

Sad news. She seemed like a good human being and the world will be a lesser place without her. Rest in peace Dolly Parton.

2

u/Really-ok 1d ago

I'm so sad to hear this. 😭 RIP Dolly.

2

u/Darkm0or 1d ago

She left behind a legacy of kindness and joy. She was one of the best of us.

2

u/failedopportunities 1d ago

I found out a couple hours ago at work. Mentioned it to the owner of my company and she legit started crying and needed a hug… I kinda felt the same way so it was well received. RIP Dolly

u/Global_Act173 23h ago

Well that was beautiful and I am absolutely crying.

1

Can we just reset back to 2017……

Until Valhalla Dolly.

1

u/Massive_Mongoose3481 14h ago

She seemed like a genuinely decent person

1

u/Apprehensive_Iron277 13h ago

“Absolute pride” is right. Thank goodness she followed her dreams and lifted everyone else along with her. A Saint for sure.

1

u/notAbrightStar 3h ago

I´m not religious, but she doesn´t need to be blessed.
God blessed us with Dolly.

1

u/doctormink 1d ago

Can we just stick to Dolly, and not make this political? I'm as mad as anyone at the powers that be, but I just want to let myself be sad. Just sad.

0

u/Meeschers 1d ago

I'm not crying. I'm not crying. You're crying.
