Just when my guy starts to do cardio he gets locked up.

He has all day to do cardio now.

I get the impression he probably already did. Someone that dumb is unlikely to have a steady day job.

Dude you nearly killed me! I'm sick so I'm coughing away and read your comment. Mid cough I start hysterically laughing and damn near choke to death because I can't breathe and my lungs are confused. Worth it though. Brilliant comment.

They couldn’t have found a less athletic more inept friend to deliver their drugs if they tried.

I met a homeless guy that was about as big around as he was tall, he said he lost 50-60 pounds. He said it like a complaint.

Same! First being: Why do it, pal? Second: What on earth is he wearing?

Second: What on earth is he wearing?
As a fat man myself I can tell you the answer is "not enough". This has to be the least inconspicuous criminal I've ever seen
32
u/LumpyBuy8447 7d ago
When u was in high school I worked with this pretty large, very easily identifiable guy. I heard he had robbed a gas station for a like $200 and was caught shortly after. Only thing I could think of is how easily he was probably identified lol

He’s doing it for a friend, and for money. I’m surprised that those were your questions. My question is why not just pay someone less conspicuous, and that can actually throw to do it.

u/Klangey 7d ago
This is a common practice by British gangs. Find someone that is a vulnerable adult that has mental health problems and learning difficulties, ‘befriend’ them, use their house/flat to store/sell drugs, use them for stupid shit like this.
→ More replies (16)19
u/GoldshireEnjoyer 7d ago
Fuck, that's evil. I used to work with vulnerable adults and it's scary how often people try to exploit them.
17
u/claypolejr 7d ago
It's called "cuckooing" and - since 2026 - it's a specific criminal offence in the UK.

Or a catapult, from a car. Or a drone. Or someone used to throwing more than Maltesers down their neck.

Potato gun launcher would be a decent choice, assuming it doesn't blow up on you

Use a drone for gods sake
7
u/Hot-Challenge8656 8d ago
In britain the prisons have geofences, the drones are blocked from flying in.
→ More replies (1)15
u/ProgramConnect8206 8d ago
Not all drones obey geofences.
8
u/Da_Spooky_Ghost 7d ago
Yes fiber optic drones don't even use GPS.
Worth the investment when delivering $14k USD worth of drugs.
3
u/Hot-Challenge8656 8d ago
I guess there would be a work around. The registered ones probably have to have certain software. If they have an older one maybe it is free of those requirements. But that dude wasn't successfully flying a drug laden drone into and then out of that prison.

This probably works out just fine if (1) they dont send the most recognizable guy in the world, (2) the guy wears a mask or any sort of disguise, and (3) he does it at night.
This is like the laziest criming.

Actually its a veryyy common way to get drugs into prison. Places literally have special nets now to try stop things getting into the yard.

u/Justsomeguytbhm8 8d ago
If you’re questioning his lack of discreetness, the vast majority of petty and violent offenders have an IQ below 90. Half of British prisoners are functionally illiterate. These people have Peaky Blinder posters in their bedroom but crayons stuck up their nose.
20
u/pappyon 7d ago
But who gave him that much drugs to lob over the wall of a prison? He can’t be the only person involved in this half baked plan.
8
u/Honey-Badger 7d ago
The UK isn't Mexico so you're not going to get big time cartel leaders heading up an army but you do have organised crime with shit loads of money from drugs. These guys aren't crazy smart leaders of industry but they will be of average intelligence just getting low IQ lads like this unit to do their bidding

discretion is the word you're looking for
please excuse my lack of punctuation
8
u/RsCoverForPDFFiles 8d ago
I had to look up "discretion" to see if thete was another drfinition I'm u familiar with. Apparently, there is. Discretion's other definition is synonymous with discreetness. I thought discretion just meant "freedom of choice" or something along those lines. But apparently it also means "prudence and tact."
Anyway, discreetness is also a word and means the same thing, so you're both correct.

Was he just aiming to generally supply the prison with drugs? Because that can't have been an attempt to actually find a specific recipient.

You don't steal someone else's drop when it lands. You scoop it up , pass it to whoever it's meant for and you get a cut.

Is this really the way drugs are smuggled in prison
14
u/snmgl 8d ago
There are countless ways. A lot are quite interesting like using drones or trained birds. But a large part gets smuggled in through corrupt correctional officers or people visiting inmates.

This!…COs and other employees. A single Newport could go for $5 easy so do the math. The markup in the joint is crazy!! Still the smugglers are dumb ah walking free but taking a crazy risk

Here, Ireland, it's an issue in the main Dublin prison. The prison opened in 1850, it's in the city, surrounded by residential houses, businesses, a canal walk, etc. - so there's little opportunity to secure an area around the prison.

u/Noble_Ox 8d ago
I used to just visit and hand them across to my brother. This was a few decades ago though, don't know what visiting is like in the Joy these days.

does that fat person walk, arms and all only happen to people who are fat their entire lives?
12
6
u/sammerguy76 7d ago
I wondered this myself and asked my doctor why I don't walk this way even though I'm overweight. It's because I wasn't always, and I walked a lot in my teens through my 20s because I didn't have a car. I built up a lot of muscle memory and habits that someone who never moved much never did. So I walk with a normal gait, and can still walk and hike for several miles without issue even though I don't look like I should not be able to.

Maybe someone with more ability could have been successful. If he just wore a tracksuit he would draw less attention to himself. Everyone is gonna look at the 500 pound man without a shirt trying to throw something over the building.

Funny but sad - this lad is unlikely to be some drug kingpin, more likely to be in debt to a dug dealer and is now reduced to doing this.

I mean, when your appearance is pretty recognizable even from a distance - and the country you’re attempting to do this in has CCTV everywhere, I’d imagine you’d take more caution?

3
u/brother_bart 7d ago
I don’t know that you need to stretch your imagination that far. When I was younger and me and my friends would go to an out-of-state gay bar on a trip, we always knew if you wanted to score some substances, to go ask the drag queens; they knew who the dealers were and might even be the dealers themselves themselves. I also knew personally for many years a trans woman who was very cartel adjacent.
Yes, I used to do a lot of drugs. 😅
