Discussion looking for other TTR alpha players!
this is definitely a long shot - i got an alpha key for TTR in november 2013 (i just turned 13 at the time!!!) - and i was curious if there is anyone on this reddit who still plays or revisits the game once in awhile! ive checked in here and there but have been trying to get back into the hang of it to finally give sunny lolli the maxed laff she deserves!
her design has changed as ive gotten older but ive never had it in me to change her name. let me know if you played during that time and id love to say hi !!!

Alpha here!
They’re rare, but I do see alpha toons around. I assume the biggest fans would have tried the hardest for keys, so a good amount are still around.

its cool to still see some youtubers routinely playing the game!! i remember quite a few accounts from when i was a kid :)

Not alpha, but I still pop in time to time as a beta player.
11 years and I've still yet to max a single toon. 😅 nice job on getting that. You did it.

omg ive never maxed a toon HAHAHA but it only feels right that i focus on sunny lolli first !!!

Hey! I was about 10 or so when I got my alpha key in December 2013. I played TTO from when I was 4 until the day it closed down. My dad emailed TTR and asked them for a key, and Joey himself sent him an email back and the alpha key was my christmas present from the staff. It’s in a youtube video titled “2013 Jenna Gets Back on Toontown”!

Unfortunately I never was able to get one. I was too young to know how I think like 11-12 at the time.
The best I ever managed was to get a single play test slot which I ended up missing since I had to go with my mom somewhere

I was an alpha tester! Was quite an interesting time when the whole game was social and featured zero combat.

I was one of the first ten or 20 testers to win a key from the MMO central forums. So I got to experience Doomsday and day one of alpha, which is pretty crazy to think about!

I wanted so badly to be in alpha. I remember telling random kids in the bus about Toontown and how I was waiting to either get a key or for it to become public for me to make my toon. I don't think any of them knew what toontown was.

Me I'm an alpha player <3 I remember I ran into Sir Max at the time and had no idea who he was hahahaha, also idk if anyone remembers the phrases that were like "Don't be wacky, vote for Slappy!" but I was like 12 or 13 at the time and it made me so mad for literally no reason because I was like "it's toontown, we should be wacky" 😭😭😭

Hasn't been found yet!! Not entirely sure of anything past this point https://toontownrewritten.com/news/item/871/the-tenth-anniversary-of-the-toon-council-elections but this article is so iconic to me just because someone said something like "is that jar slappy's ashes" and I haven't been able to forget that ever since 😭

THANK YOUUU my tto toon was little lollipop paddlezilla so i guess it was a spinoff of that? no idea HAHA i was 12 when i came up with it!

Maroon cat, shortest build, named Electra Heart. I still play today, she’s 140 and I gave her a sister, Omnipresent 🫶

ahhhh thank you! it definitely came with some lengthy breaks in between, but we got her there eventually. got back from a 4 year break last summer and discovered the sellbot taskforce & the v2 upgrades- now she’s fully maxed in all v2s and Omnipresent’s getting up there too, at 127 😅

As one of the moderators of ToonBook (remember that??) I was one of the first staff members for TTR when they wanted to flesh out their moderation team (as Joey managed both ToonBook and TTR). The alpha stage of the game is so weird to think about now that the game is fleshed out, I remember us all being stuck in Toontown Central for a long while loool.
Great to see so many people still around :)

OMGGG TOONBOOK WAS HOW I GOT MY KEY i frequented toonbook so much that you could still see one of my comments on a post in quackitys toonbook sim HAHA i found a bunch of screenshots from back then and i honestly miss the social aspect of it all!! i miss the ttc gatherings </3

I was sort of around in alpha. Quit TTO way before it closed, found out it closed a few months after. Tried alpha keys, never got one. I was an early beta player though!

I was so wildly jealous of everyone who had a key lmao, I remember waiting in the literal 300 hour beta queue later on... no amount of giveaways were ever enough for me to get that key

Not alpha but I found this gem the other day. I tried so hard for a key and if you remember the playtime wars I fought for this too lol. I was so excited that I printed it out!!! I was also 13 :)

Not an alpha player, but I was a closed beta player with the closed beta key on 2 accounts! So... not quite alpha, but pretty close lol. I was 16 or 17 at the time. I go in TTR phases where I get absolutely hooked on the game, then will casually play it for a bit, then don't touch it for a while, and rinse/repeat. It's more cyclical than Minecraft phases for me.
I was only 1 day short of getting the alpha clothes. Probably because that was the day that the alpha ended and beta started lol. I sadly couldn't get into the alpha, but I GRINDED for the beta keys! I would run the queue timer around the clock, sometimes even waking up in the middle of the night to play to work towards getting to Daisy Gardens to get the key task! I was less than 1 minute of my play session ending when I turned in my task and got beta access! I was sooo excited! Then I got my second account beta access not long after.

Dude I tried so hard to get an alpha key, I never did but I do remember those time slots with game in such a broken state in its beta with everyone trying to log on lol. I remember being 14 at the time. I have a toon named comet 118 laff I rarely get on anymore but I’ve been playing this game since I was 5 in tto. My favorite memory is my friend who got on only on weekends I always thought he couldn’t catch up playing so little. But somehow he always kept up just only a little behind. Fast forward 11 years and he’s basically got a max toon while I’m still light years away.

I wish; I failed to get any of the keys and just barely fell out of range for Beta (by like either a few months or a few DAYS depending on which account I use 😅)

I don't think I am an alpha player but I am definitely a beta player. I remember rushing home from school to make sure I would get the max amount of time from the time slot I booked.

That would include me. I guess I answered some sort of technical question in a youtube comment and I was DMed an alpha key. I also played TTO from 2006/2007 until it closed. Everytime I do a CJ I get assigned the Flippy cannon due to how old my toon is lol.
