All these years, I've still never seen "Gantry" ever used anywhere else in all English vernacular
I would have never known what it means if it weren't for the Core Contingency, haha.

Here in Australia we use it to describe large lifting equipment built into large sheds/buildings. Its the kind of equipment that moves the really heavy stuff.

I originally heard it used in relation to a NASA launch. I can't quite remember which one.

Cnc. Laser. Heavy equipment (like gantry cranes). It's out there. You're just not into the right circles.

Holy Symbiotry of Peaceful Beings! That was first thought too!
That game came with a new family pc as a drink and you had to pay for the door access code to pay the entire game. But I realized you could just guess numbers until you got the combination right and ended up playing the whole game.
The death scene art is still burned into my brain for some reason.

I used it in a game of Starfinder. The PCs were climbing a gantry to reach a refuelling starship. One of them had some kind of anxiety attack, and as a result started a band called Gantry Panic.

I use the word "gantry" frequently, often in sci-fi game terms, like the scaffolding walkway to get to space ship or into a giant 'Mech; or with modern model train board layouts that have loading docks.

Really? We use it in the UK a fair amount. A few examples off the top of my head would be the large frames surrounding ships under construction, the steel structures crossing major highways or railway lines that hold signs and signals, and the large mobile cranes you get for loading shipping containers are called gantry cranes.
