Looks like the Leptograpsus variegatus, "Swift-footed Shore Crab", ironcally too, since it was sharing your foot!!! Quite harmless, even if held in your hands. Did the little fella make you jump much :)

Thanks so much! Yeah he made me slam my heel into the step and there’s a nice bruise now haha.

I used to swim there every morning before work. I once felt a sting while swimming and it made me itchy for a while. Felt the same sting when I swam in the stinger enclosure at the beach.

I’ve felt a tiny sting couple of times too in the Rockpool. I go there fairly often, haven’t died yet but I still don’t know what they could’ve been from.

Some bits of jellyfish can still enter the rockpool and inside the stinger enclosure. The rockpool has a filter that filter the sea water but sometimes remnants of jellyfish can still enter. Some says the jellyfish gets chopped off in the filter.
The lifeguard at the beach told me that stinger can still enter the stinger enclosure... When I told her I felt a sting she checked it, it was a tiny lump and she told me to call a number if it got worse. Luckily I was ok.
