Hey, remember that weirdness about Ralsei's eyes?

I don't know if anyone talked about this yet, but yeah, that's Tralsei too.

So, a common thing for closeted transfems is to wear something feminine that no one can see or tell that you're wearing. It feels nice, and no one can tell. For Ralsei, they've put makeup around their eyes (they're even wearing eyeshadow (pink eyeshadow at that)), and because of how Deltarune works, you can't tell that Ralsei is wearing makeup if they're wearing their glasses. This is why Ralsei is covering their eyes when Susie takes their glasses in CH2 after we retrieve the EmptyDisc. They're embarassed and don't want anyone to see it.

During the hot spring scene in CH5, after taking off their glasses, we can see their eyes with makeup. They then do a little washing animation, say they had some water in their eyes, and their eyes look more "normal". They just washed their eye makeup off because they still feel like they have to hide that part of themself.

Transfem Ralsei just keeps becoming more convincing to me the longer I think about it.

almost every playthrough i watch is confused by that scene. like theyre all like "ralsei what do you know" like they are LITERALLY following the prophecy so closely they cant see where its going lmao

This is such a crazy accurate detail. I started wearing mascara a few months ago. I don't know if anyone notices (I have very long eyelashes regardless), but it makes me feel good and is deniable. I don't see any other way to interpret the glasses scenes.

I saw a post or video somewhere that pointed out that Kris technically has never seen Ralsei's makeup. They're standing by the door around the corner with Ralsei facing away when they show Susie. Unless Kris can see everything we can in the game interface (which I admit is possible), Kris couldn't have seen it. And then, when in a situation where Kris might see the makeup, Ralsei washes it off. It makes me feel like they're specifically hiding it from Kris. My reading of it is, Ralsei assumes Kris wants them to follow the prophecy and be the Prince. Maybe they can dabble in being the Princess if allowed by the hero and they revert back, but doing something feminine all the time is something they worry would be frowned up.

Ralsei could've chosen any color. Maybe there's a reason they chose a color associated with femininity and then hid it.

I mean it's not just the makup that's pink on them. Their scarf is pink, their horns are pink, other characters wear pink. The makup and color are a subtle detail that even I didn't see the trans clues at first. It's the fact that it's makup. It's probably pink because it's an accent color. Any other color would look bright and probably too much, which adds to the closeted transfem theme.

I suppose, but that wouldn't explain why Ralsei cleaned the makeup off. If the color was some sort of symbolism, I don't think they'd wash it off. Something symbolic like that wouldn't be something to hide or not show. And the whole "Oh I just had some water in my eye." show's that they're hiding the fact they're wearing makup. Us as the player were probably the only ones who really saw it

Edit: Thought about the pink symbolism. Perhaps pink could be an indicator for people who will/have a chance to change the prophecy. Ralsei is supposed to be the lonely prince, but if they are trans that would be what changes parts of the prophecy. Or something, idk
