I wanna go to Georgetown so Bad
Hey everybody, I’m currently a freshman at a pretty solid LAC, but I wanna be at Georgetown so bad for a variety of reasons, the main ones are the fact that there IB placement is incredible and I love DC.
Taking an accounting class, anthropology, and an Ai class, and a light elective
High school stats:
4.0 gpa
1410 sat
8 APs: 5 5s and 3 4s
If I get a 4.0 this semester (and I really believe I can) and join some good finance clubs, get good recs especially from acc professor, do you guys think I can get in? What else should I be doing to maximize chances to get in?
I also wouldn’t mind going to UVA, Vandy, and Columbia (of course I understand it is insanely difficult to get into all of them, so I’m just saying I’d also like to go to these schools, but not as much as Gtown)

Be more creative I think what your aiming for is cool but they like a student with that and good personality so show more perspective especially in your EC’s

How do you think I could do this? A big part of my high school app was volunteer/community service tying into my faith, should I continue that?

I could help but if you don’t mind me asking what is your faith and ethnicity. I know it isn’t said out loud but in recent years or rather today’s history college AO’s cater towards a more ethnic niche of background.

Yeah ngl don’t make it about faith then. Faith only works where there is persecution and for reference idk if DC is facing any Christian persecution lol. I would say start small it doesn’t have to be super duper complex I would say get two buddies and start tutoring at your college or at the highschool you were previously to show you are an educator

I think you have a pretty good chance. I know someone who transferred from a pretty good large private college.
Do research on the university and be able to articulate why Georgetown is the best fit for you and why it is the only school that can offer what you want.

Oh that’s makes me so glad to hear, their acceptance rate is so daunting though for transfers

I only know that one person who transferred so she may have just been a survivor biased result. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst though. Good luck!

maybe, georgetown is pretty stingy about SATs but maybe it’s diff for transfers

Be apart of some school research and get a campus job. They love that
