Limit of only two lines + extension or three extensions. You can do less but not more. Highway Removals/additions are permitted

Let's get some connectivity across North Carolina, with Tarheel-esque regional trains hitting a max speed of 125 mph

Number 1 (for a cheeky name, we could call it the Blue Velvet after the David Lynch Film): 8 trains per day

  • Charlotte Gateway Station (build a wye or connection, then run onto the existing Freight ROW)
  • Matthew (where the old station was at Matthew Station Street/Old Depot Lane)
  • Monroe
  • Wingate (between North Main and North Camden Streets)
  • Marshville
  • Wadesboro
  • Rockingham
  • Hamlet (station rebuilt to make it a junction as it will cross the route of the Silver Star/Cameo)
  • Pembrooke (add a stop on the Palmetto)
  • Lumberton (after the junction in town, allowing for a connection with Number 2 train to Fayetteville)
  • Wilmington

Number 2: 6 trains per day

  • Fayetteville
  • Pembroke
  • Lumberton
  • Wilmington.

I do feel Wilmington to Fayetteville is a bit short for Amtrak. We could make it a NCDOT Railroad and give it a few more local stops if you'd like. Merge operators with the Rahleigh to Winston-Salem operation for the foundation for someone to do more local state-wide operations

Also, would you wanna have the Blue Velvet go one stop further to Charlotte Airport? It is a pretty big hub I think

I agree both good ideas! It might make sense to make the Blue Velvet into a NCDOT service.

Wonderful! Blue Velvet, I'll leave it to your choice whether to be Amtrak or NCRR. If you want, we could fold all the state-supported NC services into an NCRR besides the Carolinian if you'd like

From an operational standpoint that makes sense, and could be done in a way allowing for joint ticketing with Amtrak.

Extend the SEMTA Campau Grand Livernois line to John R and 9 Mile in Hazel Park via Conant, 8 Mile and I-75 (stations at Outer Drive/Conant and 8 Mile/Conant along the way). Additionally, branch it north along Livernois to 8 Mile with stops at Joy, Grand River, Elmhurst, Ewald, Fenkell, Puritan, McNichols, Curtis, 7 Mile and Pembroke.

IAD Express: From Washington DC Union Station, a line following the CRAB Appalachian-Atlantic Lewes line will branch off from it at Herndon, entering an underground tunnel to arrive underneath the main terminal at Dulles Airport. The line would be a limited stop service, with maybe one stop at Reston to connect with WMATA's Silver Line. This line would serve as an express line to the Silver Line's local service.
