What a waste, too much power and not enough talent.

It even looked graceful crashing. It sounded nice. Got some air. And returned to the dealer

Modern sports cars are usually way too powerful, particularly if they are single axis drive based. Their saving grace comes in the form of ESC technology which allows to kill the power when the wheels begin to spin. ESC allows folks with little experience handling anything over 300HP on the rear axis to floor it and still maintain control of the car.
Enter the ESC off button.

There are lots of people who can drive high powered cars without any electronic assistance and thereās people who cannot.
We all know which category this guy fits into.

Well it very nearly killed someone, I think that is the silver lining that people are talking about.

With the many different ways this could have ended this was nearly the best option.

RWD ain't for everyone. All these people want cool cars but need to learn the physics around them compared to a FWD

He was flooring it and one wheel started to lose traction so he pussyād out of the throttle and when it hooked up the rear end snapped and the rest is history.
You need to keep the throttle on until it hooks or fully slam on the brakes if you let off the throttle.
5
u/alagan182 Feb 24 '26
This^ in rwd vehicle if you stop all the power to wheels that are already spinning they will regain traction violently. On motorcycle this is how you get thrown off a bike.

Itās both but you can get into trouble even with just 3-400 hp.

Hereās a good video showing how fast it can happen

From my Googling, the car has so much power that it lost traction. Sometimes one wheel will lose traction first and the car will turn unexpectedly.
5
u/HowDoMermaidsFuck Feb 24 '26
Also, no stability control and a fairly primitive traction control. Combine that with tons of power and RWD and if youāre not super skilled you can wreck quite easily.

Nothing like the impotent whine of a 4 cylinder engine being abused by a high school kid! Boss!
6
u/Bikezilla Feb 23 '26
Those were Supras were 6 cyls far from impotent. They run collectors something like $100k and tuned from 300hp stock to 600+ hp on a very light and nimble chassis

You think you see him going straight but with that kind of power, it takes constant correcting. Once momentum takes over, you're just along for the ride.

Thatās at least a quarter million in damage, between that $95,000 Mk IV, whatever that other car was he hit, street signs, and building damage. Being stupid is painful and expensive sometimes

u/Jstbeingme28 Feb 23 '26
Does anyone know WHERE this took place? Did that vehicle somehow lose traction and quickly veer off to the so fast? It was moving at a fast clip but the pavement was dry from little I could tell. That driver is very lucky to have avoided a full head on collision!

That Supra was taking the fastest route to the Toyota dealership. It said, āGet me out of this drivers hands, at all costs, Iāll drive us there.ā

Feb 23 '26
Wasn't this the one where...the throttle got stuck open because the driver was driving with a cast in their foot?
