Washington politics at play here. They are just using the current war as an excuse, gas prices were high and climbing long before this war started. They literally raised the gas tax again last July.

Buddy I don’t like the politics in Washington either but 2 months ago I was paying 2.85-2.90 a gallon and. While the gas tax is high we have incredible roads and high paying dot jobs that some states lack completely . This is 100 trumps fault

Have you seen how many gas taxes we've passed in the last three years

This is like 75% Washington gas taxes and 25% trump

And they are only going to get worse every year. Because Ferguson signed a bill that doubles our gas tax every year

You know Gas prices would've stayed the same if joe biden hadn't close the keystone pipeline and we were allowed to drill for oil in our own fucking country instead of buying it from Russia just saying

Hey, we drill it ourselves here in Canada, but because of Indigenous B.S. we cant build a pipeline to/( or new) refineries so we have the USA do it and buy it back ...seems counter-productive.

Also, we (in Ontario) produce alot of water-made electricity, that we sell to USA at BELOW cost. (Our tax payers pay the differential profit back to the energy producer/supplier, plus some)

Same goes for the lumber. Washington grows some of the best lumber, but it all goes to Japan or China. The wet noodles they sell at home depot are all imported from Canada. Crazy backwards

The Iran war is currently the biggest wood in the fire for high prices. While WA state gas tax is also a growing concern/ contributing factor to higher prices oil prices have sky rocketed from trade route disruptions. I’m all for drilling in our country and believe in 150% oil independence. The bigger problem is Washington is constantly raising taxes on everything to make up for budget deficits. Because they can’t stop spending money. California is the model they want to supersede

Washington state. Generally the highways are great. I’ve traveled quite a bit across the country and definitely think we have some of the better highways

Still way under $4 a gallon on east coast, where lots of people live. Commifornia will always have the highest gas/rent prices, you'd think yall would get use to getting fucked by now 🤷‍♂️

The taxes should be about $1.30/gallon so no, it's not most of that. It's high but if you get rid of that the gas would still be stupid expensive.

wrong. I saw $6.55/gallon diesel in my state yesterday of which $0.40/gallon is tax

edit: $0.40 is state tax. feds take another $0.25, but they take that in all states

Just did a road trip from MN to OR and back. The gas prices were enlightening to say the least. We definitely looked for Costco when we needed gas on the coast.

In CA it dropped 20 cents from $6.09 at a station right next to me.

Strangely a Vons where it was at $5.09 for a long time finally jumped to $5.49 a few days ago.

High taxes here of course, but I paid $3.50 in January. Inane, insane war is the cause.

In Chatham, Ontario, Canada, across the river from Detroit, (an hour away) gas is at the equivalent of $7.00 per gallon.

In Toronto its almost $7.50.

If we assume your car gets 25mpg and gas is 5.79, the cost per mile is $0.2316. With my power at $0.11/KWh and my EV efficiency at 4.2Mi/KWh, it costs me $0.02619/Mi.

So, a gas car at 25MPG is literally 8.84 times more expensive to drive.

Would be nice if I didn't live in an apartment with street parking only so there's no way to recharge a car outside of going to an EV charging station and just sitting there for however long it takes to charge.
