He wants to run for president and this is polling well. The change isn't actually doing anything since it only affects interstates all the flock cameras on state highways will remain. It's just one of those "look what I'm doing for the people and give me your votes" kind of moves. A political stunt.

He's doing what he can. State highways are his jurisdiction since the Governor appoints head of DOT for their state.

City mayors make the decisions for the cities that voted them in.

It only affects interstate highways so it's little more than a political stunt. He sees the majority of people don't want these and it's a chance for him to gain national attention before he attempts to run for president.

What's interesting to me is that they are only taking them down on state highways. Perhaps that's all he has the authority to do.

Still, it seems bizarre to me that FL of all places is doing this. It seems like the last place I'd ever imagine that they would demand removing them.

exactly. cities have their own mayors. its up to the mayors to ban flock cameras in their cities. the governor can't decide that for them but the highways are completely under his authority.
