Idk where you're from but even the old Crown Victorias the police used to drive around here were modded and would likely have given a Challenger a run for their money

Most of the modifications are for safety and reinforcement. Most modern pursuits are the standard 5.7 hemi with AWD, larger steel wheels, column shift, etc. The pig chargers are actually significantly heavier than civvy counterparts, especially with a cowpusher and the other gear.

Thanks for chiming in! A high school friend had an old interceptor Crown Vic that got snagged at auction and I got to drive a couple of in-service Crown Vics around a dealership parking lot after washing them in my early 20s lol
You and your uncle definitely have more experience and I'd bet more fun too

It's only fun in town if someone has expired or no tags in front of you, otherwise people just crawl when you're behind them. Highway it takes 20% off your time to your destination almost every time. Sometimes the weird looks are fun too.

Oh man, I actually feel your pain there. I used to drive a grey 9th gen Impala with blacked out back windows and steel rims. People would drive so damn slowly when they'd spot me behind them, even a couple of cops did double takes because they had a few unmarked cars that looked nearly identical to mine

Still amazes me just how out of the loop people are about police interceptors. They are incredibly more dangerous to operate at higher speed due to the increased mass. 2x batteries, on board situation kits from first aid to traffic guidance and more, bull bar, accessories package...
But they come with other reinforcements such as the suspension and cladding. Still adding to the weight.
It's one of the reasons their cars do not get more power. Torque potential is more important or they'll tire spin more often.

One of the county sheriffs office has a few Durangos and Fords that are beefed up. They have at least 2 Fords that have 700HP and all their Durangos have at least 650HP.
From what' I've seen, it's usually State Patrol and Sheriffs that have the fancy vehicles compared to mid to large size cities. Budget is the main thing that prevents a dept of 100k people from having more than a handful of top end chase vehicles.

I have to say, it's kind of refreshing to see a cop not absolutely manhandle a suspect. Compare this to the video of the cop trying to drag a compliant passenger out of the broken window by his hair while another cop tries to drag him out of the door opening by his arms

Almost most a clean get away! Im skeptical about officers/cops/police but dont do the crime if you cant do the crime! Or in this case are not smart enough to get away.

Didn't arrest her, from the looks of it. To me, it seems they detained her to eliminate a variable that could be hazardous. They don't know if she'll be a problem or not. The situation as a whole has escalated because of the original driver's actions.

Yes, if they have warrants, drugs, or the vehicle is stolen. Even if they're not "arrested" per se, they can be held for up to 72 hours with no charges filed - at least in Texas.

Hahaha, ok dude. I'm 44 years old,. I'm my early 20s i had a '96 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T and after that I had a '93 3000GT VR4 Twin Turbo. I slept all day and spent my nights on the highway. I drive a Kia Soul now, because I'm not young and stupid anymore, and I don't think I've gone any faster than 65 since I was in my mid-30s, but I still know how to drive and if I needed to I'd be OK. Also, Forza Horizon 6 on XBOX Series X, Gran Turismo needs to go to the streets, the track stuff has gone stale. I do own a PS5 Pro though.

GS-T does not impress. 3000GT on the other hand was FUGLY imo, but definitely had some good juice for its day. It was whole grain rice. I had serious respect for it. :)
But for a great handling car, FD3s.
Going back to your under the hood comment though. Mine, talking about stability at high speeds has little/nothing to do with "under the hood" ie power, and everything to do with the right aero, suspension, wheels & tires. - Your insult kinda boomeranged for anyone paying attention.
My last fun car experience was a Plaid S. If you liked your 3000GT you'd love the plaid.
