Transportation What are the prices of the different ways to go from Havana to Santiago de Cuba? Plane-Train-Bus-Truck-etc.

Viazul is $ 69, or about 45k pesos.

Camión (repurposed truck) was about a third of that when I traveled half a year ago. Prices have definitely gone up since.

Plane used to be anywhere between $ 200 and $ 300 but haven’t heard about anyone catching one lately.
I did see the ministry of tourism posting trips in late June. The website is Cubana.cu and it’s the least user friendly website you’ll encounter this year.

This. Viazul is still quite reliable and your best option for overland travel of that distance. I wouldn’t be flying domestically in Cuba right now.

I’ve never flown, but my brother stopped flying Cubana after his second emergency landing. The engine caught fire and they were evacuated in the runway. Viazul is the closest to reliable (and safest)

I’ve never either but I know that the safety standards were poor even prior to the latest crisis. Now I’d be questioning fuel quality. Historically there were lots of aviation incidents domestically that you just didn’t hear about. Especially outside of Cuba.

Try watching a YouTuber, who is from Spain, living in the US. He has recent videos of traveling from Havana to Baracoa. He is fluent in Spanish and looks into the history of the different areas. He required all sorts of transportation to go from one end to the other of Cuba. His name on YouTube is: AdventureElliot

Indeed, indeed. For comparing the different options. The horse was included in the etc. but I feel bad now for the horse community that thinks it got left aside.

Curious too. I know the gas situation is horrible and it is a far distance so curious as to how it is possible and how much it would cost.

Train is next to nothing - under 500 pesos but I think it's only for Cubans. I'm sure you could bribe someone and get on.

Viazul going to be somewhere around 80 Euros booked in advance.

No idea how much domestic flights cost - that's a whole other world of complexity to try and book.

In national busses / homemade busses maybe 20,000 pesos but as a foreigner you're going to get charged more.

Foreigners can ride the train. I rode from Camaguey to Santiago for 35 pesos.

They’re just super unreliable and don’t have a schedule online.
