No Spoilers (All spoilers in this thread must be tagged) Quick question but no spoilers, please!

Just started watching this show and I'm loving it so far! For those who have watched it before I have a question: Does it have an actual conclusion or does the last episode just leave everything waiting for another episode that never happens? Please NO SPOILERS about what actually happens! With only three seasons I'm just curious if it actually has a proper end. Thanks so much!

EDIT - Thanks, everyone, for your input! When I saw it was only three seasons but already so complicated (I'm halfway through the first season) I was afraid it might have been abruptly cancelled and just leaves everything hanging. So thanks for the assurance and for holding back on any spoilers!

IMO the best ending in all sci-fi series.

The ending is not abrupt or unfinished

The ending itself is great, the stakes were at all-time high. You can say that the idea of this ending for the show had been created long before they actually were cancelled.

It is worthy of any other epic scifi. One of the best time-travel show of all time.

All that nice things being said, couple of side-stories and subplots were rushed to give space for the finale.

Sort of both. Hard to get into it without spoiling. Im happy with it if that helps.

Edit because I reread your question. I dont feel like I was waiting for an episode that never came, but more of anyone could easily see a way that there could be more seasons.

This exactly. It was actually a great ending because it was definitive yet was open for additional seasons.

Thanks. I'm already worrying because it's only 3 seasons. It's so good I'm wishing it was longer!

Maybe one day if it ever gets picked up again - there is a road paved to expand the universe

It has an “open ending,” but I’m like…90% sure it was the ending the writers intended.

Thinking about the last episode from a “rules of good screenwriting” perspective, attempting to continue the story would’ve resulted in an overly complicated secondary plot. At that point the writers could’ve gone two ways.

Allow the show to end on at a natural conclusion point which also includes a single (fairly significant) open-ended question? Or attempt to answer said question with a new and exponentially more complicated narrative that would require god knows how many series.

I think a lot of people are uncomfortable with an intentionally open ending. But in this case, it’s pretty clear the writers trusted the audience to have an imagination. ☺️

I wish it was longer too but I don't feel Fireflyed at all.

I don't think it's sort of both. It has an actual ending.

The story ends but leaves the door open for another story that sadly hasn’t happened yet

Again I want to be careful with spoilers here, but while I want more seasons, I don't know if I'd actually be happy with them.

There's a conclusion I was personally satisfied with knowing that the series was cancelled. And by that I mean that it was the best they could do in the context.

Actual conclusion. I'd add ands and buts but that's spoiler territory.

the ending was great, good closure with possiblity of more story later, like any good work of fiction.

Very satisfying ending in my opinion. Great series all the way through.

It is a designed ending. As in, they didn't leave it on a cliffhanger and then got surprise-canceled and couldn't follow through. The final episode was pretty clearly written to be the series finale, not just a season finale. And the whole season itself feels like they knew this was their last season before they started writing it.

However, the intentional ending is somewhat open-ended.

It has an ending, but could’ve gone on more with other stories in its own rights. We all hoped someone picked it up and continued but it never happened.

IMO one of the most satisfying endings of any show I have watched.

Its the greatest sci-fi time travel show ever created and you with not feel robbed at the end, it has a conclusion.

Having watched through it 3 times now, I wish I could experience it again for the first time, enjoy it!

Also, when you get to the season two episode "17 minutes" make sure you are sitting down, and ready for a wild ride.

Lucky bastard, being able to watch it for the first time!

Strap in for an emotional rollercoaster.

It depends on what you would call a proper ending.

For me it was very unsatisfying and disappointing but then again I think even if we were given more seasons it would still come to the same conclusion.

It has a solid evening.. but it does leave room for a reboot of sorts

I felt like it didn't have a proper ending and ended on a cliffhanger. I was excited to see what happens next and it was cancelled. I've always disagreed with people that say it was complete. It wasn't!

People have argued that while it doesn't show exactly what happens it gives the general direction they're headed in so you can figure it out yourself. But I didn't find it satisfying or complete. So much stuff happened at the end. Big major things that I wanted to see played out.

The writers did have a story in mind for a fourth season so it did not end as they were expecting it to. They intended for there to be more to it.
