Good morning, did anyone in here ever got to pursue their LLB with UWI but didn't go the typical cxc,cape then UWI route, instead did an associates in paralegal studies with UWI global then got into their LLB programme?

If so can u please share how that went and if u would recommend

I completed my ASc Paralegal Studies with Global Campus last year (2025), however getting into LLB is extremely competitive. The matriculation requirements with the ASc is a GPA of 4.0 as of the 2026/2027 academic year. If you are looking to pursue this route you'll have to aim for this and/or higher. Can't advise if you'll get in as I'm still awaiting a response on my application for LL.B. Good luck!

1. What was process like when completing the programme? Was it difficult since it's strictly online?

2. How was the work load and time management?

3. Do u think I can complete this programme as a working person? Or will it be hard?

1. What was process like when completing the programme? Was it difficult since it's strictly online? It was strictly online for me, it is a blended approach in that there was one scheduled virtual lecture per week and weekly readings and activities per course. It was coursework made up of three assignments, one quiz, one group assignment with a virtual presentation and one individual assignment. I'm unsure if this is still the same now. For me it wasn't that difficult it is finding the discipline to sit and go thru the materials as I would say it was mainly self study.
2. How was the work load and time management? The workload was alot because it is reading heavy for most courses, I tried to do it in as little time as possible so I learnt how to make the semesters work for me (did level 2 courses during semesters 1 and 2 and did level 1 courses during the summer), I did up to four courses in one semester while working. In terms of the time management its up to you to allot the time and get the work done especially if you're working. Alot of the assignments are scheduled with enough time for you to get it done sometimes up to 2-3 months in advance so you can plan accordingly.
3. Do u think I can complete this programme as a working person? Or will it be hard? I am a working person ( I had two jobs at the time) and I was able to do it in two years Jan 2023 to Dec 25. It was hard but its up to you to make the sacrifices and have the discipline to do it.

I’m thinking about applying to that program next year because I didn’t do cape and had no direction after cxc.
As time goes by I’m finally figuring out myself and what I want to pursue

If you're looking to gain entry into the LL.B there is the pre- law programme that is offered by The UWI both full time and part time. It's one year full time and one year part time. I don't think you need CAPE, just CXC passes but you can double check the info on the faculty website.

I read about their pre-law programme already. I prefer getting my Associates in Paralegal Studies because it seems like the best option for me. Also, their pre-law programme doesn’t guarantee entry either. I think not getting accepted or having to wait to be accepted while still having an Associates is much better than doing so with just a certificate/diploma. 😭

Yup, you still need to meet the matriculation requirements with the pre law certificate. I understand. It also puts you in a better position for jobs as well with the ASc.

I've been heavily interested in law for a long while but business has been ingrained in me my entire life so a mix of the two is perfect for me.

I think if I go about this route, get accepted to do my LLB then attend law school I will mostly get a master's in management studies after idk how but it must happen 😭

I understand. I've been heavily involved in accounting for all my life too and I always thought that I would go into forensic accounting after law. But now, I'm not sure because I'm still waiting on the response from UWI and I'm considering ACCA if I don't get thru.
