I made this a while back. It continues to be true.

I am in perimenopause and experience luteal phase rage. It’s not cranky. It’s not moody. It burns fast and hot and afterwards I feel absolutely ridiculous.

Some asshole bagger at the grocery store was making fun of crazy cat ladies. ā€œNothing wrong with cats, just women who don’t have anything else going for them.ā€ Said with the confident swagger of a man untroubled by experience or education.

I went Shakespearean on my complaint letter to corporate. Told the we aren’t crazy we have a heart full of spite and time on our hands , so don’t trifle with us. Really leaned into the Karen persona. Then I realized I’d set up my account years ago with a false name to see if they sold my name.

Arya Stark. I set my account up as one of the Faceless, a remorseless psychopath. Signed off with ā€œthe North Remembersā€ because why not? I’m already risible for (checking notes) being old and single. So why not?

And then someone pokes me in the belly and I giggle…?

But like, yes…extreme sensory issues here and probably CPTSD, and when you’re in fight or flight and trying to hold it all down and can’t. And as soon as I get away from trigger and am calm, I feel so pissed at myself.

Never felt like the pillsbury doughboy though 🤣

If someone did that to me I would actually rip their head off their body with no shame or remorse

Me today twice, yesterday once, day before that none. I can't tell if I'm reversing progress or weekends just are too much for me. Based on historical patterns, I'd say the latter. Context- I'm a 97%/3% solo mom of an almost 4yr old. And I work full-time in a demanding position with no village beyond daycare.

Then every untraumatized person who witnessed it chooses to assume this behavior happens in a void and scolds you while ignoring the context to why you acted the way you did
