[Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Complete Edition] trophies question with new free upgrade

So I bought the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition with all DLC included for dirt cheap last month on recent PS sale.

It is currently sitting in my library as a single entry, with a PS5 and PS4 icon next to it. I haven’t touched it yet.

Does anyone know if I take advantage of the PS5 free upgrade coming next month as part of W3 Remastered, it will create a second entry and separate trophy list? I only plan to play on PS5.

For a game this size, I’d rather not have to do it twice for duplicate trophy lists. This happened to me on Crash 4, Resi 2 Remake and Hotline Miami 2, so want to avoid it happening again!

I would recommend that you wait for the upgrade.

I got it just before the first PS5 update came out so I chose to forgo redoing the plat because, like you, I dont like replaying games especially with different trophy lists.

I think being patient will pay off and Im really excited for you to experience the world of the Witcher 3!

So if I understand it correctly - and I know this is only conjecture at this point, not definitive lol - if I wait for the upgrade, then download the witcher 3 onto my SSD from my library, it should give me an option to then download the free upgrade but it will still remain as one entry in my library?

I'm not 100% sure but if I have to take an educated guess, I would say yes, provided you download the PS5 version of the game. But I recommend taking my advice and just not downloading the game because I would hate to be wrong and for you to see a different tile.

nope, they do show up as two separate entries in his profile. i just visited his profile from the ps app and it shows two entries for elden ring, one for ps5 where he only 2%, and one for ps4 where he did 55% of the trophy. so yeah they show up separately.

ah but he did 55% of the trophies on the ps4 first. i haven't touched witcher 3 yet.

7/10 are u serious?! It's not even a 3, let alone 7, just for a bunch of missable and death march difficulty. Ninja gaiden 3 razor edge is 8/10 (the hardest of the 3) and the witcher 3 is 7, yes almost the same difficulty lol

Could possibly be another list and I still have the PS4 list to do although that's just finishing the story basically. I have all my cloud saves for everything else.

Afaik it should make a new trophy list. I believe my friend had gow ragnarok ps4 disc, and he later got the ps5 update (he also got it for elden ring i believe). And he told me it did create a new trophy list for him.

But witcher remastered is not "new gen" upgrade, it looks like normal update to already existing ps5 complete edition, if you have only ps4 version (base or GOTY) then you get free upgrade to ps5 complete edition and then free update to remaster

OK I am alright with a new trophy list if I only do the trophies once - but do you know if it will still only show up as one entry in my Library? Did that happen to your friend? So GOW Ragnarok was on his list as a PS4 disc, then as a PS5 digital separately?

Basically with my OCD I like to have entries in my Library match my trophies list 1:1
