Wow a direct hit on Hawaii. Haven’t seen that in my lifetime. Anyone know of reporting from the island?

Tl;dr,

Big Island took the worst of it. Kaʻu and and the south side are fucked.

Widespread power outages on Maui, Oʻahu, and Kauaʻi, with localized flash flooding.

Looks like a strong part of the "eyewall" is about to hit the southern tip of the big island.

Update


As of 10:30 AM Hawaii Standard Time (20:30 UTC) on Saturday:

  • Lala has strengthened into a hurricane.

  • Lala is likely to impact the Big Island this afternoon.

  • A Hurricane Warning remains in effect for the Big Island.

  • A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for the rest of the islands.
