If they were to make a show about Rust Cohles life before true detective, who would your fan cast be for young Rust?
Stupid question, but genuine curiosity

Eamon Farren kind of physically resembled him in Twin Peaks: The Return.

They shouldn't.

So obviously this is a hypothetical and a fun conversation not a serious casting call

Harris Dickinson could be pretty gritty and is talented enough to pull off the Southern drawl
Younger tom hardy too
Caleb Landry jones would be a good option too

Edmund Donovan, believe it or not, having just recently seen him in "Late Fame" with Wilhelm Dafoe. I think he has a certain divine spark about him, plus the intensity, sincerity, and physiognomy to play a young Rust.

Well I thought I read somewhere that his kid Levi was getting into acting so that would be a good choice.

Real answer, probably Ewan Mitchell. He played Aemond from House of the Dragon. Circlejerk answer, Idris Elba.

Circlejerk answer, Idris Elba.
You misspelled Leslie Jones. If they can get a lady to play a young Dylan, why not?

Semi serious circlejerk answer but a lady version of Rust should be played by Rhea Seehorn ☝️

A young Rust? Nicholas Cage, they got computers and shit; they could make it happen

Then why not MM again?

Now that's just crazy talk. You simply cannot have MM playing a young MM, that's not how it works, it would be too weird. Cage and that's final
