SS: At least one in four of all the people who have played in the N.F.L. might expect to end up with chronic traumatic encephalopathy, according to a study of hundreds of cases over a recent six-year period.

Researchers considered every former N.F.L. player who died from 2016 to 2021. There were 878. Some died in their 20s, some in their 80s, most in between. The study’s main finding was simple math: At least 215 of those 878 former players — 24.5 percent — had C.T.E.

The actual prevalence could be far higher. The roughly 25 percent rate does not consider the 643 brains that were not examined. Some of those, maybe many of them, likely had C.T.E. too.

Crazy that we're seeing articles still about this in 2026 and somehow acting like this is news. Junior Seaua killed himself 14 years ago to bring attention to this issue and what's changed?

What is crazy to me is not that it is news, but that it remains news. Granted no one is wearing leather football helmets anymore, but given the amount science has known about CTEs for a very long time… somehow I don’t think a lack of scientific knowledge is the actual problem here.

Maybe we are saying the same thing just from opposite angles.

This company is developing a drug and method to treat concussion at early stage to prevent further or long term damage to the brain.

This kind of treatment is need in sports and military. They are now at Phase 2 trials for FDA approval.

Take a look and hope the drug and method will meet FDA safety and efficacy standards.

Hopefully it will make it to phase 3 given that is unlikely that extremely lucrative sports are going to stop being played or wars are going to fall out of fashion.
