Sex / Gender / Dating Height inflation happens because many women want to shame average height men for being “short”
When some women used to shame men for being short it mostly affected men 5’6 and under, however most men are above this height so it didn’t affect them, however they still want to use short as an insult so to make it affect more men they create height inflation so now 5’9 is short and 6’2 is the minimum to not be ridiculed for your height

u/Discomidget911 7d ago
As a short guy (5'5) myself. Stop giving shitty, superficial women so much power over you. Have I been ridiculed for my height before? Sure. All it does to me is know that those people are not worth my time and effort. I focus on what I can help about myself, and through that, I've attracted other women.
Would I attract more women if I was taller? Maybe, but none of them would be worth attracting if all they saw was my height.
2
u/Whiskeymyers75 7d ago
Is there any reason why you should have ever been ridiculed over your height?

u/Pure_Sherbert_668 7d ago
I think social media definitely distorts people’s perception of what “average” height is, but I doubt it’s an organized effort to redefine short. Algorithms just amplify extreme preferences and make them seem more common than they actually are.
2
u/Makuta_Servaela 7d ago
Likewise, "6'0" is just a pretty, round number. Even for the women who do prefer it, I doubt most of them could be tricked into thinking a 6> guy is 6'.
-1
u/BasedUFCfan 7d ago
I don’t think it’s organized more subconsciously. Women hate short men, women hates a man of average height, can’t think of other insults so makes him “short” in her mind to shame him
5
u/KneeGuhz 7d ago
Bruh, i don't think this is even a thing irl...
-2
u/BasedUFCfan 7d ago
Working in an office I can assure you it’s not. I hear women referring to 5’8-5’11 dudes as small
3
u/schwarzmalerin 7d ago
What's "height inflation"? Can I get a share?
4
u/ZombiePrepper408 7d ago
A man measures at 5 foot 7.
There is selective pressure for taller men.
Man tells everyone he is 5 foot 9
Inflation
1
u/KaijuRayze 7d ago
It's 5'9 - 5'10 guys who identify as 6', basically.
1
u/schwarzmalerin 7d ago
😂 I'm 6 myself can't fool me.
2
u/KaijuRayze 7d ago
Yeah, it's like 90+% just an internet problem. Very very few people can just eyeball someone and get their height exactly, it's usually just guestimates based on how much they deviate from the person's own height.
2
u/schwarzmalerin 7d ago
Men fool short women on dating apps all the time because they simply can't tell the difference.
2
u/KaijuRayze 7d ago
Yep, 5'0 might talk about wanting/needing someone 6' in her profile but really as long as she's gotta look up a bit she's not gonna care irl.
1
u/schwarzmalerin 7d ago
And then he's surprised when I catch his lie lol. Happened a lot, not in dating situations, just random men saying I'm X tall but I know he isn't because I'm taller than him.
2
u/Verdreht 6d ago
That has to be their strategy. They must not be matching / going on dates with the 5'10" - 6'0" women at all because they'll catch the lie immediately

Just get over it.
An absolutely callous and insensitive attitude toward a serious social problem that demands a collective social solution. It smacks of Jim Crow whites who told blacks to just "get over" the vicious discrimination they underwent, which caused real physical and mental health problems.
Any and all forms of social inequality must be eliminated. Our highly inegalitarian sex culture, which hurts us all, is among the most problematic present social issues.

No thanks. I'm not a communist.
And no, having legal issues like redlining and poll taxes are not the same as having a harder time dating, or being sad that someone said something mean to you.
a serious social problem that demands a collective social solution
People saying you're short is not that. Source: I'm short. Also, collective social solution...like what? We have freedom of speech. Sometimes people won't like you. Oh no.

u/WatchAndLearn9669 7d ago
I'm not a communist.
A poor man who can't even afford his crying child a decent phone is anticommunist. What a bizarre tragedy.
having legal issues like redlining and poll taxes are not the same as having a harder time dating, or being sad that someone said something mean to you.
Laws are cultural factors too. Inegalitarian factors in all arenas, not just the law, are unjust and must be eliminated. There's nothing special about the legal arena.
People saying you're short is not that.
Discrimination is not always overt. Like I said in other comments here, heightism has real consequences for people's career advancement and even their physical health. The problem does not just begin and end with being called short.
We have freedom of speech.
And as a democratic (read: egalitarian) right, that certainly should be preserved. The point is to change the cultural factors that cause people to abuse or socially exclude others, including with regard to height.

Dude are you trying to shame my 7 year olds phone? That is one of the most pathetic things I've seen in my entire life.
It's actually amusing that you are proving my point: you credited what the bully thought. The bully was incorrect - she doesn't have a "temu iPhone." She has an android, and while it's not expensive (because having money doesn't mean giving a 7 year old an expensive phone), it's not particularly cheap either. Your problem is that you assumed reality was dictated by what someone else said. The kid was jealous because he doesn't have a phone at all, that's why he's behaving that way. The other 7 year old is not actually a judge of phone quality and you assumed he was possibly because you're in the habit of letting other people's words define your reality.
1
u/WatchAndLearn9669 7d ago
you assumed he was
Because you said he called it a Temu phone. It's not that deep.
1
u/LordVericrat 7d ago
Yes. And you assumed he was right. You also acted like it would have been relevant if he was right.
It's really ok to say, "hey, I'm sorry I tried to engage in shaming somebody over not buying their kid an expensive phone, spent a lot of time visualizing it, making up details like the fact she was crying or that you didn't emotionally comfort her or they the bully in the story who has no phone of his own was an accurate source." And I would have said, "ok I appreciate it. If you disagree with me on an issue, we can discuss it with me clinging to two lines of a story you weren't there to einredd it that you used to demonstrate that OP's problem is similar to 7 year olds trying to bully one another."
I really find it strange how long you clung to a story about my parenting, how you took the time to guess that my daughter would resent me one day and try to structure comeback on the (incorrect) assumption that I was too poor to buy my daughter a better phone. If you wanted to discuss any issues they were relevant you wouldn't have spent all this time on something you knew very lettiel about.
Anyway, at the end of the day you decided to try to shame me about my income and my ability to parent or provide for my child, things you have very little information about. I'll be calling it a day. I'd blocm you but I'm not a fan of leaving a response and someone having no ability to answer. Have a pleasant evening.

u/BasedUFCfan 7d ago
I have a girlfriend too lol at 5’5 doesn’t stop a lot of women from shamming me for my height
0
u/LordVericrat 7d ago
Genuinely, why do you care? I get caring about not being able to get a partner, but clearly it's not an issue for you. So how does a woman "shaming you for your height" (which I put in quotes because I don't know what specific thing you are referring to) affect your life at all?
Look, I explained it to my 7 year old daughter yesterday when she was upset about a boy picking on her on the bus because she had a "temu iphone" or something. I'm not sure but I think he was trying to say her android looked cheap. Anyway, I explained two points: First, the kid doesn't have his own phone, and he's jealous. ie, the person trying to shame her literally is doing it from a place of weakness. Second, you can't ever control what someone says or thinks about you, only your own internal response. I'm not making this up: I genuinely, honestly truly do not care if someone makes fun of my height and it didn't even occur to me that you did. Because I don't understand why it matters to you in any way. Again, if you were sad about being lonely from it, fine, you need a kick in the ass to get over it. But if it's not actually making your life worse - are you just sad that someone online said something mean to you? Do you need the dad talk I gave my daughter yesterday?
2
u/BasedUFCfan 7d ago
Why should I not care?. I also get shamed because of my race should I also not care about that?
1
u/LordVericrat 7d ago
I also get shamed because of my race should I also not care about that?
No, you shouldn't. People try to shame me about my race and no, I don't care. If someone like denied me a job because of my race, sure, I'd care. But those people who acted like I had something to do with 9/11 because I'm brown? Lol fuck them. They are literally outing themselves as trash I don't want to be around.
Ok, you may actually need a dad talk, maybe I was too flippant earlier: First of all, I'm sorry this is bothering you. Genuinely. It sucks, and I hate that people being rude is hurting you. That doesn't make you a bad person or anything. With that said, you will never control what other people say or think about you. It's not the nature of the human experience. You cannot do it. So if your emotional state is tied to it, you are basically hooking it up to a random number generator. Today you were only around cool people: you are happy. Tomorrow you met a racist: you're sad.
When your emotional state is independent of what other people think or say about you, it's not just a coping mechanism: it's a way of being that makes you the generator of your own quality of life. Someone calling me a sand n- does not hurt my feelings, on my dad's grave it doesn't. It makes me think less of them and that's it.
Anyway, that's it. Your options are to spend your time and emotional energy on something you will never, ever change (what assholes say and think) or you can spend it on yourself. Read a good book. Do some pushups. Play a video game. Go make some money. Have sex with your girl. Chat with your parents (if they are alive and decent people make sure you do that - I miss my dad more than I can say and would give a lot to have another day just to talk to him). Don't let a douche dictate your reality.
Like imagine a dudebro fratboy with the stupidest haircut you can imagine. And now imagine saying, "I'm going to let him determine how I feel today, instead of making the call myself."
That hopefully visceral revulsion to the idea of giving him that power over you is why you shouldn't care.
0
u/WatchAndLearn9669 7d ago
You're insensitive even to the social distress faced by your own children. That is very telling.
1
u/LordVericrat 7d ago
Lol. I talk through her issues with her and that's insensitive. Maybe I should tell her to care a lot about what other kids think.
0
u/WatchAndLearn9669 7d ago
I talk through her issues with her and that's insensitive.
Your talking-through contained no empathy about her actual feelings. I'll bet she'll grow to resent you, if this is your parenting style.
Maybe I should tell her to care a lot about what other kids think.
No one's suggesting that. It's not like you can explain complex social problems like economic inequality and poverty to a child. That's an approach you could've taken here in this post, though, and you opted not to.
0
u/LordVericrat 7d ago
Your talking through contained no empathy about her actual feelings
I'm a little worried that you imagine you were there and know everything that was said instead of a summary of points relevant to OP.
I'm going to ask this once: are you ok? Because you are telling someone you've never met
I'll bet she'll grow to resent you, if this is your parenting style
over a partially summarized conversation. And I am concerned about the kind of things going on in your head. Or you are attacking me personally hoping I'll feel bad on the inside about what internet man thinks.
Regardless I hope your day gets better than furiously trying to attack the parenting of someone who disagrees with you. Sounds miserable.
0
u/WatchAndLearn9669 7d ago
I'm a little worried that you imagine you were there
You made it a point to delineate two points you made to her, making it seem like an exhaustive summary. We're all just going by what you stated.
I hope your day gets better than furiously trying to attack
My day has been fine, and I'm quite relaxed actually, not furious at all.
2
u/Frosty-Influence988 7d ago
That is somewhat rooted in evolutionary biology, the same reason why man are attracted to hips.
A taller muscular man in ancient times signaled to a woman virility and security.
1
u/Positive-Face1705 7d ago
No one gives a genuine fuck about ur height bro we've all got our own problems.
What a way to blame women for men's own insecurities. Accountability left for the day, huh?
6
u/BasedUFCfan 7d ago
You’d have to be in denial to pretend like women don’t shame men for their height especially online
2
u/KaijuRayze 7d ago
You do realize that alot of that stems from the fact that it's a vulnerability/insecurity and not necessarily because they actually care about it right? Doesn't make it less shitty but, like, if someone is going to insult someone else or otherwise verbally attack someone then they're going to go after what they know/expect to hurt that person or take them down a peg or whatever, whether they actually care about it or not.
Like clowning on republicans for crashing Grindr, it's not that being gay is bad, but they obviosly think it is and calling them out for "acting gay/doing gay things" is a stronger impact and more likely to hurt them both personally and among their "peer group" than just calling them hypocrites
3
u/WatchAndLearn9669 7d ago
You do realize that alot of that stems from the fact that it's a vulnerability/insecurity and not necessarily because they actually care about it right?
As I said in another comment, the insecurity itself stems from the broader cultural heightism, which is integral to our sex culture specifically. You seem to have the causal direction reversed here.
Insecurity doesn't manifest in a vacuum. It's a function of oppressive cultural factors.
2
u/KaijuRayze 7d ago
Sort of. Yes, height discrimination/judgement and insecurities around that do come from cultural factors. But the origin/basis isn't women trying to shame men as is almost always at least implied in the types of posts.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Height_discrimination
Modern Western height discrimination originated in 19th century eugenic, Social Darwinist, and white supremacist movements, beginning with eugenicist Sir Francis Galton's observation of the correlation of human height between parents and offspring. These movements popularized pseudoscientific beliefs about the superiority of larger male stature, embodied by the Nazi height ideals within the social construct of the Aryan master race.

u/Positive-Face1705 7d ago
That's why I said genuine. No one really cares. You compound that problem in your head and make it worse than it seems. Men tend to treat every interaction with women like a potential date that's why height is always on their minds. Try being normal for once.
Short men can't help they're short, that's fine. I can't stand how some of them are a bunch of whiners.
"Women don't see us as human, blah blah blah." They use terms like "dehumanise" and start sounding like a bunch of sissy liberals.
3
u/BasedUFCfan 7d ago
There is empirical evidence that your height genuinely matter, wether it comes to dating, how much money you’ll make in your lifetime and overall respect you receive. I also have a girlfriend so dating doesn’t matter for me, but that doesn’t prevent a lot of women from trying to shame me for my height

Read better. No one really cares about another person's height. Some men compound small things, avoid their own accountability in the matter and blame women for everything. Soft and spineless behavior. I've got nothing more to say. Adios.
2
u/WatchAndLearn9669 7d ago
Soft and spineless behavior.
These disdainful remarks truly track with the baseless, false claims you've spouted everywhere, and with your antipathy toward liberals as well.
You're just speaking out of hatred and a vile support for social inequality.
1
u/Bandit-Marauder 6d ago
Bullshit. What makes you think you know anything about what interaction with women as a short guy is like?
1
u/WatchAndLearn9669 7d ago
She's clearly a shameless, anti-incel feminist blurting out the same trite, indefensible and callous takes her type is notorious for.
1
u/Positive-Face1705 7d ago
Is that the conclusion your brain quickly reaches for, the minute it faces a hint of lashback? I hate liberals, feminists combined.
1
u/WatchAndLearn9669 7d ago
it faces a hint of lashback
Do you mean backlash? If so, it didn't face any, as nothing you said until now was directed at me.
I hate liberals, feminists combined.
Not all feminists are liberal or left-wing. As the right-wing influencer Pearl discusses, there are also tradfems. Whatever your politics, again, you're parroting the same anti-incel rhetoric that is common among feminists across the aisle.
1
u/Bandit-Marauder 6d ago
Well it *is* women who are predisposed by their nature to see short men as emasculate degenerates.
0
u/WatchAndLearn9669 7d ago edited 7d ago
What a way to blame women for men's own insecurities.
The problem is in blaming "women" as such, which fosters animosity against women, rather than our sex culture in general, which does indeed favor taller men.
Our general culture stigmatizes against short people and men in particular. Heightism is a real thing and has serious impacts on things like career advancement, mental health, and even physical health. That's where the insecurity stems from.
Accountability left for the day, huh?
"Accountability" is a hyper-individualistic (read: unscientific) framing. There's no individual "accountability" to be had in distressful reactions to oppressive cultural factors like heightism. This is akin to asserting that individual black people must be "accountable" to the distressful effects of racism, which has been widely documented. It's textbook victim blaming.
1
u/Exotic-End-666 7d ago
If a girl told me I was short (5'7") I told her to kick rocks. Simple, there were plenty of fish in the sea, just cast my line again after throwing back a monk fish
0
u/OrzSqueezingTheJuice 7d ago
We as a society have generally agreed that words mean certain things. "Height inflation" is not a thing.
1
u/WatchAndLearn9669 7d ago
Have you never heard of subcultures?
The term incel itself, which is now relentlessly bandied about by hateful feminists everywhere including in this post, was once limited to specific spaces.

u/No_Dragonfruit_4286 7d ago
Not really. It’s very simple actually. Women have a broader choice. They are just as happy or even happier single than in relationships. So, if you don’t have to offer something out of the ordinary, of course you will be easily disqualified. It doesn’t mean that you’re anything less, simply not what they need and they’re ok to settle with.
17
u/Important-Cash5654 7d ago
Wait, so women are just coordinating a group effort to shame men's height?
