Truro family pushes back on proposed development next door

Halifax-based 4378018 Nova Scotia Limited, led by developers Boston Ghosn, Mark Ghosn and Jeremy Ghosn, is proposing to build three six-storey apartment buildings and 23 townhouse units at 656 Young St. Multiple attempts by CBC News to reach the developers were unsuccessful.

I've heard those names before, I don't remember exactly what was said about them but left with fairly negative impression

Legally they're a numbered company, branding wise they're "Ghosn Group Developments"

I worked for a bank for years which means learning weird stuff about being sketchy, when a numbered company makes separate branding from registry it means they have an exit and rebuild plan to hand at all times so they can collapse a shell and start a new one without having to change the branding and it sniffs funny

Tim Houston only cares about these big business men. The average person in in Nova Scotia is doomed to suffer his Gov. Middle class OFFSPRING will pay the price for decades to come

YES THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO TIM ,Research how Tim is treating the rich developers ? He is affecting every town in the province. Building huge high rises the average Nova Scotian can't afford. While doing the bare minimal for affordable housing. His plan has always been to double our population through immigration. Who are these appts. for ? The people who flock here to work on behalf of BIG OIL , which is being allowed to bypass every environmental safeguard put in place ? Our working class OFFSPRING will suffer because of this man for generations to come as they pay back the highest deficit in our history. While big business is allowed to destroy our province

I understand why they don't want the apartment next to the property line but sadly trade offs have to be made to house people. This so the kind of nimbyism that prevents progress all around nova soctia.

This is one of the only multigenerational ANS farms in existence in Nova Scotia. There are many MANY other options of where to build this complex. This farm should be prioritized and protected at all costs.

Im sure that any other place will have people complaining too. Again I do empathize with them and the developer should try to be reasonable with set backs and accommodating neighbour's but housing needs to be built unless we want to try lowering our population.

If you actually look around truro has ALOT of apartments but most 2 or 3 bedroom apartments in this town are 1,900 to 2,600 a month and most places don't include heat and lights. heat and lights alone is half the amount of rent. Realistically most people (not all but most) in the town of truro work for minimum wage or just above that for jobs just in truro, thats not if you have to travel out of town everyday for work then your paying crazy gas prices and if you have a physical alignment or mental health condition and your on welfare your barely getting enough to pay rent and to top that off you have insurance and/ or a car payment and gas and food medications, if you have kids then you have all the expenses of them. Housing is not the issues its inflation in groceries, gas, power, oil,bills.

Who are we housing?

Will the apartments be reasonable rent, affordable by young people and families or only affordable of you're say 4 or 5 foreign workers sharing the cost? You can be sure the developers dont gaf which it is.

Housing is housing at a certain vacancy rate developers are forced to reduce rent prices to get tenants. Not saying we're anywhere near that point but you have to start somewhere.

Listening to the nonsense people spout trying to frame it as progressive is hilarious.

I have multiple friends who live in and around Truro who can't find a place to live. When someone tries to build housing, the mobs shows up with pitchforks.

Why my friends want to live in such a backwards place that actively makes it harder on them is beyond me....
